This English finance calculator calls the same Korean pure calculation module as the Korean page. KRW, Korean statutory thresholds, tax rates, and product rules are preserved instead of the old generic percentage stub.

Savings insurance tax-exemption guide

This English guide translates the Korean savings insurance tax-exemption calculator. The calculator calls calcSavingsInsuranceTaxExemption with Korean amount limits, holding period, payment period, and pension payout requirements.

Amount limits

For lump-sum savings insurance, the model preserves the KRW 100 million lump-sum limit per policyholder grouping. For monthly savings insurance, it preserves the KRW 1.5 million monthly premium limit.

If the premium exceeds the amount limit, only the eligible portion can receive tax-free treatment and the over-limit gain can become taxable. The result therefore separates tax-free gain and taxable gain.

Holding and payment requirements

The Korean rule requires 10 years of maintenance for ordinary tax-free savings insurance. Monthly payment products also need 5 years of payments, and prepayment must stay within 6 months to keep the favorable treatment.

For qualifying pension insurance, the model keeps age 55 as the minimum pension start age and checks whether the payout method, same parties, death termination, no early termination, and lifetime guarantee conditions are satisfied.

Tax saving result

The comparison case uses 15.4% interest-income tax on the insurance gain. The calculator reports actual tax, normal tax, tax saving, net receive under tax-free treatment, and net receive under normal taxation.

The KRW 20 million financial income threshold still matters for household tax planning, but the page is mainly a requirement checker for whether insurance gains can avoid ordinary interest-income taxation.
