Calls calcTaxFreeSavings with eligibility, unused limit, simple/compound interest, 0% tax-free treatment, and 15.4% normal interest tax. The KRW 50 million ceiling is preserved. This English finance calculator calls the same Korean pure calculation module as the Korean page. KRW, Korean statutory thresholds, tax rates, and product rules are preserved instead of the old generic percentage stub.

Tax-free savings and deposit guide

This English guide translates the Korean tax-free savings page. The calculator calls calcTaxFreeSavings, so eligibility, KRW 50 million limit use, 0% tax benefit, and the normal 15.4% comparison are calculated by the same Korean engine.

Who can use the tax-free limit

The Korean model is built for the tax-free comprehensive savings system. It keeps the KRW 50 million aggregate principal limit across eligible financial institutions and applies the remaining limit after subtracting already used principal.

Eligibility is explicit. The page keeps senior age 65, registered disabled person, national merit recipient, basic livelihood recipient, and similar eligible categories instead of assuming every depositor can receive 0% tax.

Interest, normal tax, and sunset date

The calculator supports term deposit and installment savings, plus simple and compound interest. Within the eligible limit, interest is treated as 0% tax. Over-limit interest is taxed like ordinary interest, so the comparison still uses the Korean 15.4% rate.

The content preserves the 2028-12-31 sunset date and the KRW 20 million comprehensive financial income context. A depositor with large interest and dividend income should check whether other tax rules, product terms, or institution limits change the practical result.

How to read the result

The output separates gross interest, tax-free applied principal, over-limit principal, normal tax, tax saving, and effective annual rate. This matters when the user has already used part of the limit at another bank.

A basic pension recipient or other eligible user can still see only partial benefit if principal exceeds the remaining tax-free room. The verdict therefore focuses on remaining limit and eligibility, not just headline rate.
