Korean taxi fare estimate by region, time, and taxi type

This English guide follows the Korean calculator logic and preserves the Korean rates, thresholds, vehicle classifications, and administrative assumptions used by the source page.

Regional meter rules

The calculator preserves the Korean regional fare table instead of applying one national average. Seoul regular taxi defaults to KRW 4,800 for the first 1.6 km, then KRW 100 per 131 meters and KRW 100 per 30 seconds. Many other regions use a 2 km base distance, 132 meters per distance unit, and 31 seconds per time unit.

Seoul late-night pricing is modeled with two tiers. A normal night band uses a 20 percent surcharge, while the 23:00 to 02:00 Seoul tier can use a 40 percent surcharge. Outside-city operation can add another regional surcharge.

  • Deluxe and jumbo taxis use the Seoul premium-taxi structure in the Korean source data.
  • The result is rounded to the 100 won unit, matching the source fare calculation.
  • Fare range is shown as a planning range around the computed meter estimate.

Passenger and transit comparison

The per-person result divides the fare by passenger count so group travel can be compared with bus or subway alternatives. The calculator also keeps round-trip cost separate because Korean taxi fare is meter based and return travel is not simply a flat service fee.

Public-transit comparison is included as a planning reference only. Taxi duration, congestion, route detours, tolls, and call fees can change the actual paid fare.
