Korea delivery rider income calculator guide

This English page translates the Korean delivery rider income calculator and calls calculateDeliveryIncome, calculateRequiredDeliveries, and comparePlatforms. It keeps platform fee tables, time multipliers, costs, 3.3% withholding, and regional insurance logic.

Platform fee structure

The Korean model keeps separate platform fee assumptions rather than using one average delivery fee. Baemin starts from KRW 3,500 plus KRW 300 per km, Coupang Eats from KRW 3,200 plus KRW 350 per km, Yogiyo from KRW 3,300 plus KRW 280 per km, Ddangyo from KRW 3,000 plus KRW 250 per km, and Logi from KRW 3,800 plus KRW 400 per km.

The result also reflects peak bonuses, minimum fees, maximum fees, regional average distance, and vehicle delivery speed. A motorcycle can process more orders per hour but also brings fuel, maintenance, insurance, and depreciation costs, while a bicycle or walking scenario lowers costs but also lowers throughput.

Time, day, and region multipliers

Time-period weights preserve the Korean assumptions: morning at 80%, lunch from 11:00 to 14:00 at 130%, afternoon at 70%, dinner from 17:00 to 21:00 at 140%, and night at 150%. Delivery-rate multipliers also change how many deliveries can be completed per hour.

Day and region adjustments are also included. Friday adds 15%, Saturday 25%, Sunday 20%, and holidays 30%. Seoul is modeled at 110%, Gyeonggi at 100%, metropolitan cities at 95%, and other regions at 85%.

Tax and insurance

Platform rider payments often face 3.3% withholding, which consists of 3% income tax and 0.3% local income tax. Withholding is not the final tax, so the Korean module also estimates annual comprehensive income tax and a monthly tax reserve after withholding.

For business income under KRW 75,000,000, the simplified expense rate used in the Korean content is 79.4%. Above that threshold, standard or actual expense handling becomes more important. When regional insurance is included, National Pension is calculated at 9%, Health Insurance at 7.09%, and long-term care at 12.95% of health insurance.

Practical checks

The output separates gross income, deliveries per month, average per delivery, fuel cost, maintenance, vehicle insurance, depreciation, tax withholding, social insurance, net monthly income, and net hourly income. This is materially different from a value times rate stub.

The Korean article notes that rider industrial accident coverage has applied more broadly since 2021. Exact coverage and platform settlement details can still depend on contract type, platform policy, multi-platform behavior, and whether the rider reports business income correctly.
