Inheritance and gift acquisition tax calculator

This English page follows the Korean inherited and gifted real-estate acquisition tax model, including acquisition tax, local education tax, rural special tax, relief, and heavy tax flags.

Inheritance rates

Homeless-household inherited house rate is 0.8 percent for the acquisition tax portion in the Korean source. General inherited houses use 2.8 percent, inherited farmland uses 2.3 percent, and inherited buildings or other land use 2.8 percent.

Local education tax and rural special tax are calculated separately. For inherited houses, rural special tax is excluded for the homeless-household relief case and can apply to large houses depending on the property facts.

Gift rates and heavy taxation

A general gifted house uses a 3.5 percent acquisition tax rate in this model. A regulated-area gift of a house with standard price of KRW 300 million or more can use a 12 percent heavy rate unless the spouse or lineal one-house exception applies.

The calculator keeps the standard price field separate from the tax base because the Korean heavy-tax test depends on the standard price threshold, while the tax amount is calculated from the selected tax base.

How to read the result

The result separates acquisition tax, local education tax, rural special tax, total tax, effective rate, and whether relief or heavy taxation was applied. Confirm final filing details with the local tax office, deed documents, household status, and gift or inheritance documentation.
