Uses ETF type and account-specific tax paths from the Korean ETF comparison calculator, including ISA and pension account logic. This English finance calculator calls the Korean feature lib for its numeric result. KRW inputs and outputs replace the old generic USD projection stub for this batch.

ETF investment comparison calculator

This English guide translates the Korean ETF return and cost comparison page. It compares domestic and overseas ETF structures in KRW and calls the same calculateEtfComparison engine used by the Korean calculator.

Costs that compound every year

The Korean article treats TER as a central input because even a small annual fee gap compounds over long horizons. It cites examples such as KODEX US Nasdaq 100 TR at 0.0099%, VOO at 0.03%, TIGER S&P500 at 0.0768%, KODEX 200 at 0.15%, and QQQ at 0.20%.

A 0.1 percentage point difference can look trivial for one month, but on KRW 100 million over 20 years it can become several million won. The English calculator therefore keeps investment amount, monthly contribution, annual return, dividend yield, TER, and holding period as explicit KRW inputs.

Tax and account structure

The Korean model distinguishes domestic equity ETF gains, domestic-listed overseas ETF gains, direct overseas ETF gains, dividend income, ISA, pension savings, and IRP accounts. Ordinary dividend or interest-style income commonly faces 15.4% withholding.

Direct overseas ETF capital gains are compared with the annual KRW 2.5 million basic deduction and 22% tax. ISA and pension account choices can change the answer, so the English page avoids the old dollar stub and preserves the account-type switch from the Korean lib.

How to interpret the result

The result is a net comparison of projected value, total cost, tax drag, and account benefit. It is not a recommendation to buy the cheapest fund mechanically; tracking difference, index exposure, currency risk, liquidity, and distribution policy can matter as much as TER.

Use the calculator for like-for-like ETF screening first, then review prospectus fees and brokerage rules. The important parity point is that the English page now uses KRW and calculateEtfComparison rather than a generic value-times-rate scenario.
