Estimate a Korean quick-delivery quote as a range

Korea does not have one nationwide posted tariff for every on-demand courier trip. A quote can change with the actual road route, driver supply, traffic, weather, dispatch time, cargo dimensions, loading work and the provider’s own terms.
This calculator therefore reports a midpoint and a deliberately broad range instead of presenting one number as a binding price.

It is designed for an office manager or small-business owner who needs to send a document, sample, replacement part or several boxes in South Korea.
Enter the one-way road distance in kilometres, the packed cargo in kilograms and centimetres, the vehicle, service speed, round trip and any known waiting or handling fee. The same inputs then produce comparable motorcycle, mini-van, mini-truck and one-tonne estimates in KRW.

Comparable brief

Keep distance, cargo, timing and site conditions identical across providers.

Vehicle check

Screen out vehicles that are too small before a driver reaches the pickup.

Coverage check

Compare declared value only with a compensation limit you actually verified.

Vehicle baselines and conservative cargo guides

The distance baselines reproduce a limited public Korean pricing example checked on 5 September 2026. They are model anchors, not statutory prices, a national average, a lowest-price claim or a guaranteed ceiling.
A mini cargo van corresponds to the class commonly described as Damas-class service, while a mini cargo truck corresponds to Labo-class service. The generic labels remain useful even when a provider dispatches a different model with similar cargo space.

One-tonne cargo truck10 kmKRW 50,000KRW 1,300 per extra km1,000 kg, 280 cm longest side, 600 cm total

The cargo limits are screening guides

They do not certify a vehicle’s registered payload, door opening, legal loading method or safe weight distribution. A box can pass all three numerical checks and still be unsuitable because it cannot rotate through the door, needs refrigeration, contains liquid, is fragile or cannot be secured safely.
Send the packed measurements, weight, item description and photographs to the provider before dispatch.

How the fee model works

The selected vehicle’s distance fare is multiplied by 0.85 for a flexible half-day window, 1.00 for standard service or 1.30 for express service. A round trip adds 80% of the service-adjusted outbound amount.
Night adds 15%, weekend or public-holiday dispatch adds 10%, rain or snow adds 20%, and a remote or supply-constrained dispatch adds 15% to the amount after the round-trip step. These percentages are transparent modelling assumptions because a universal provider percentage was not published.

Midpoint

distance fare × speed × round trip × conditions
+ rounded waiting fee + confirmed handling

Chargeable waiting rounds up by started ten-minute block. With a KRW 2,000 per 10-minute rate, 1–10 minutes costs KRW 2,000 and 11–20 minutes costs KRW 4,000.

Market range

low = variable amount × 0.85 + confirmed fees
high = variable amount × 1.25 + confirmed fees

Waiting and handling are added after the range factor because they are user-confirmed amounts. Each final estimate is rounded to the nearest KRW 1,000.

The high end is not a price ceiling. Holiday peaks, heavy snow, a remote pickup, extra stops, stairs, parking, tolls, refrigeration or special cargo can exceed it. Ask for a final total that states VAT and every site charge before confirming the job.

Step-by-step use

  1. Get the road distance.
Use a Korean map service’s driving route, not a straight-line measurement or the distance between district centres. Enter one-way kilometres even when you later select a round trip.
  2. Measure after packing.
Include the carton, padding, insulation and every item in the weight. Measure the outside length, width and height; the calculator derives the longest side, sum of sides and cubic metres.
  3. Choose a candidate vehicle and speed.
Start with the smallest vehicle that passes the guide, then compare every eligible row. Use express only when priority dispatch has real value; the half-day option represents a flexible window, not a guaranteed provider discount.
  4. Add known conditions.
Select round trip, time, weather and supply conditions that actually apply. Replace the default waiting rate with the provider’s rule and enter only handling or loading charges that have been quoted.
  5. Request like-for-like quotes.
Give at least two providers the same addresses, measurements, vehicle request, timing, stops, waiting rule, loading responsibility and payment method. Confirm cancellation, toll, parking and VAT treatment in the final total.

Worked examples

Motorcycle distance checkpoints

Under the model, motorcycle quick costs KRW 8,000 at 5 km, KRW 10,000 at 10 km, KRW 15,000 at 15 km and KRW 100,000 at 100 km before service and condition adjustments.
These checkpoints reproduce the selected public price schedule and make the calculation testable; they do not claim that every Korean provider charges the same fare.

Standard 20 km document box

A 3 kg box measuring 40 × 30 × 20 cm, sent 20 km by standard one-way motorcycle with no extra condition, has a KRW 20,000 midpoint and a KRW 17,000–25,000 range.
It also fits the Korea Post pickup-parcel KRW 8,000 bracket, but that service is not an on-demand same-day substitute.

Express round trip in bad weather

For the same 20 km motorcycle trip, express service adds KRW 6,000, round trip adds KRW 20,800, and night plus rain adds KRW 16,380. A 25-minute wait at KRW 2,000/10 minutes adds KRW 6,000; confirmed handling adds KRW 5,000.
The rounded midpoint becomes KRW 74,000 and the range becomes KRW 65,000–90,000.

Bulky or multiple boxes

A load can fit a weight guide yet fail the longest-side or total-size check. When the motorcycle row says that confirmation is required, compare a mini cargo van; when several boxes must be stacked or tied down, request mini-truck and one-tonne quotes too.
The cheapest numerical row is useful only after the carrier confirms physical and legal loading.

Compare official Korea Post pickup parcel when urgency is flexible

The calculator checks the official domestic pickup-parcel brackets published by Korea Post. It selects the first bracket that satisfies both packed weight and the sum of three sides, while also enforcing a 100 cm longest-side limit.
The comparison is useful for a non-urgent shipment, but pickup parcel normally follows a next-day schedule for domestic general areas and can take longer for Jeju or islands. It is not a same-day quick-delivery promise.

Korea Post domestic pickup-parcel brackets used by the calculator
BracketMaximum weightMaximum total sizePickup fee
Small5 kg80 cmKRW 5,000
Small-medium10 kg100 cmKRW 8,000
Medium20 kg120 cmKRW 10,000
Large30 kg160 cmKRW 14,000

The displayed difference does not monetise the value of same-day arrival. Compare it with the cost of a missed filing, production downtime, an unhappy customer or an employee making the trip. Also confirm pickup date, excluded goods, island charges, declared-value services and acceptance before relying on the parcel option.

Compensation and the Korean legal boundary

The Korean Living Logistics Services Industry Development Act is the relevant framework for small-parcel delivery agency services using motorcycles, drones or outdoor mobile robots. Article 33 and Article 30 of its Enforcement Decree require service terms to address fare charging, handling, damages and exemptions.
That requirement does not create one fixed monetary amount for every customer shipment. There is no universal compensation cap that this calculator can safely prefill.

Trucking Transport Business Act Enforcement DecreeID 005667 · MST 286309 · effective 2026-06-03Shows that fare reporting covers limited classes, not a universal quick-service tariff

Article 32’s standard contract concerns relationships among operators, branches and workers; it should not be read as a universal customer cargo limit. Article 19-5 addresses checks on a rider’s motor-operation liability coverage in the certified-business context, which is not the same as a confirmed limit for the carried item.
Cargo vans and trucks fall under the separate trucking framework. Article 35’s compulsory cargo-liability insurance scope includes specified larger vehicles such as those with at least a five-tonne maximum payload or ten-tonne gross weight; the calculator does not label every mini-van, mini-truck or one-tonne operator as subject to one compulsory policy.

Zero means unconfirmed, not zero recovery

If you enter an item value but leave the confirmed compensation limit at zero, the result asks you to inspect the actual terms. Only after you enter a verified limit does the calculator show the arithmetic gap between declared value and that limit.
The gap does not predict admitted liability, an insurance payment, an exemption, consequential damages or a dispute outcome.

Practical booking scenarios

Original contracts or seals

State the hard receipt deadline and recipient’s contact details. If replacing the original would be costly, confirm sealed-envelope handling, proof of pickup, tracking, proof of delivery and the loss terms before comparing a small difference in fare.

Urgent machine parts

Compare the high end of the quick-delivery range with the business loss from another hour of downtime. Disclose oil, batteries, sharp edges, fragility or temperature needs and obtain acceptance of the item and packaging in writing.

Recurring stock transfers

Track monthly trips, box counts, waiting and return patterns rather than treating each urgent booking as unrelated. A standard cargo specification and loading process can support a corporate-rate or scheduled-dispatch discussion.

Quote checklist and cautions

  • Provide exact Korean pickup and delivery addresses, floor, lift access and legal parking availability.
  • List every stop and expected dwell time; a multi-stop route is not the same as a simple return trip.
  • Ask when waiting starts, whether free minutes apply and how each ten-minute block is rounded.
  • Confirm tolls, parking, VAT, card charges, stairs, manual loading and unloading in the final payable total.
  • Check cancellation timing before booking; a fee can apply after a driver begins travelling to pickup.
  • For valuable cargo, retain photographs, sealing evidence, pickup time, recipient confirmation and the terms accepted at checkout.
  • Save the result as an input checklist, not as proof that a provider agreed to the estimate.

Frequently asked questions

Why is the app or telephone quote different?

The calculator does not query live addresses, traffic, driver supply, promotions or a provider’s dynamic pricing. Use its range to spot a missing condition, then rely on the final provider quote.

Does passing the motorcycle guide guarantee acceptance?

No. The screen checks only weight, longest side and total dimensions. Shape, door clearance, weather protection, contents, securing and legal loading still require the carrier’s confirmation.

Are the express and half-day percentages official?

No. Public material confirms different service levels, but not a universal percentage for every provider and trip. The 0.85 and 1.30 factors are explicit comparison assumptions.

Is pickup parcel always better when it is cheaper?

Only when the delivery deadline allows it. Korea Post pickup parcel is not on-demand same-day delivery, so compare the saving with the cost of delay and verify collection availability and restricted items.

What statutory compensation amount should I enter?

Do not invent one. The reviewed provisions do not supply one universal KRW cap for all providers and cargo. Enter only a limit shown in the actual provider’s terms, declared-value process or confirmed coverage.

Sources and verification date

Market references, postal tariffs and current Korean statutes were checked on 5 September 2026. Recheck them before a material shipment because prices, service terms and law can change.

Prepare one consistent quote request
