Korean designated-driver fare estimate

This English guide follows the Korean calculator logic and preserves the Korean rates, thresholds, vehicle classifications, and administrative assumptions used by the source page.

Base fare, distance, waiting, and platform effects

The designated-driver calculator starts with a regional base fare. Seoul, Gyeonggi, and Incheon use KRW 15,000 for the 10 km base distance, then KRW 1,500 per extra kilometer and KRW 2,000 per 10 minutes of waiting. Other regions use their own base and per-kilometer values.

Platform choice matters. Kakao, Macaron, Safe Driver, Boorum, and local operators have different call fees, card-surcharge assumptions, and platform multipliers. The English page calls the same Korean function rather than using taxi fare or a flat trip multiplier.

  • Midnight service uses a 20 percent surcharge in the source model.
  • Dawn service uses a 15 percent surcharge.
  • Outside-city, holiday, and bad-weather surcharges are each modeled separately.

Taxi comparison and DUI cost context

The result includes a comparable taxi fare for the same distance. That comparison helps users see when a designated-driver service is cheaper than sending one person by taxi and returning later for the car.

The Korean source also frames designated driving as a risk-control choice. A DUI case can create fine, license, and insurance costs far above the trip price, so the calculator keeps the trip estimate concrete instead of treating the service as a generic convenience charge.
