Recognized days and compensation modes

When another party is liable for an accident, Korean auto-insurance practice can compensate either substitute rental cost or cash transportation cost, but not both. The Korean model uses equivalent-class daily rental rate and recognized repair days.

For a repairable vehicle, recognized days are capped at 30 days. For total loss or scrappage, the cap is 10 days. The source notes that 160 repair labor hours can justify the longer repairable cap in insurer practice.
