Base ratios by accident type

The Korean model starts from accident-type base ratios. Straight vehicle versus left-turning vehicle uses 20:80, straight vehicle versus right-turning vehicle uses 10:90, straight vehicle versus U-turn uses 10:90, rear-end collision uses 0:100 against the following vehicle, lane-change collision uses 20:80, and parking-lot collision uses 50:50.

Pedestrian crosswalk cases are modeled as 0:100 against the vehicle, while jaywalking pedestrian cases start at 40:60. Wrong-way accidents are modeled at 0:100 against the wrong-way vehicle, and door-opening or reversing accidents start at 10:90.

Adjustment factors

The adjustment table includes increase factors such as DUI plus 15 percentage points, speeding over 20 km/h plus 8 points, speeding over 40 km/h plus 13 points, signal violation plus 18 points, center-line violation plus 18 points, no license plus 12 points, and school-zone violation plus 15 points.

Weather and time are also considered. Rain adds 3 points, snow 5 points, fog 5 points, and ice 8 points. Night adds 3 points and dawn adds 5 points. The result clamps the final ratio between 0 and 100 and then calculates expected compensation from total damage.
