Korean rental-car accident self-pay and loss-of-use fee

This English guide follows the Korean calculator logic and preserves the Korean rates, thresholds, statutory periods, and insurance assumptions used by the source page.

CDW, deductible, and loss of use

Rental-car accident bills in Korea can include repair deductible, loss-of-use fee, and sometimes diminished-value damage. The calculator separates those components so a user can see what the CDW type actually covers.

Standard CDW usually caps repair self-pay at the deductible but may not waive loss of use. Full or super CDW can reduce repair self-pay to zero, but the daily surcharge must be compared with the expected avoided cost.

  • The default daily rate is KRW 110,000 and default deductible is KRW 300,000.
  • Loss-of-use rates in the source options are 30 percent, 50 percent, 70 percent, and 100 percent.
  • The calculator flags overcharge by comparing the selected rate with a 30 percent fair-loss-of-use reference.

Diminished value and super-CDW break-even

Diminished-value damage in the rental context is modeled only when selected and when the vehicle is young enough and repair cost is high enough. The source condition is generally within 2 years and repair cost at least 20 percent of vehicle value.

The super-CDW comparison subtracts the extra daily super-CDW cost from the baseline accident cost. If the avoided cost exceeds the extra premium, the result marks super CDW as economically better.
