Prepaid funeral refund calculator guide

This English page translates the Korean prepaid-funeral refund calculator and calls calculateRefund, calcRecruitmentFee, and createDefaultConfig. It preserves the announced formula: refund equals paid total minus recruitment fee and management fee, recruitment fee = min(total contract amount x 10%, KRW 500,000), management fee = paid total x 5%, 14-day cooling-off, 3-business-day payment deadline, and 50% preservation on company failure.

Refund formula

For ordinary monthly fixed-payment contracts, the source calculates paid total from per-payment amount and paid count. If paid count reaches maturity count, paid total is capped at the total contract amount.

Recruitment fee deduction is the smaller of 10% of total contract amount and KRW 500,000, unless a custom recruitment fee is entered and capped. Management fee is 5% of paid total. Refund is max(0, paid total minus both deductions).

Cooling-off and break-even count

If withinCoolingOff is true, the calculator treats the case as a 14-day cooling-off cancellation and refunds 100% of paid total without recruitment-fee or management-fee deduction.

Outside cooling-off, early installments can return zero because recruitment fee is deducted first. The break-even count is the first installment count where paid total times 95% exceeds the recruitment-fee deduction.

Scenarios and consumer protection

The result includes current refund, +6 months, +12 months, and maturity scenarios, plus a sampled refund curve. It also reports preservedOnBankruptcy as 50% of paid total, reflecting the customer-advance preservation concept.

The Korean guidance also notes a 3-business-day refund payment deadline after cancellation request. If the company deducts above the announced standard or delays payment, keep the deduction statement and contract documents for dispute filing.
