Korea Forestry Direct Payment Calculator
Check 2026 Korean forestry payment bands, parcel registration, working days, sales, income and the small-household alternative; save a review for the forestry office.
The 2026 application window (March 4–April 30) is closed. Review an existing application; check a new notice for the next year.
Enter one payment type for one applicant. The authority confirms eligibility, measured land, reductions and final payment. Leave unknown values blank; enter zero only when none is confirmed.
1. Payment type and work requirements
Working days must be supported by records. See the guide for alternative primary-business tests. The KRW 1,200,000 product-sales minimum does not apply to silviculture.
2. Parcel areas and registration records
1 ha = 10,000 m². Do not enter the same parcel twice. Exclude fallow, converted or overlapping-payment areas and other ineligible portions.
3. Overlapping payments and area caps
Caps are 30 ha per individual and 50 ha per corporation; households with multiple recipients also have a 60 ha cap for the same payment type. Separately calculated general-product and songyi amounts cannot simply be added.
4. Check the KRW 1,300,000 small-household alternative

Next: compare the parcel review with your records
Prepare the management registration, sales evidence, forest work log, ownership/lease records and household income records. Ask the township office for the largest parcel or the forestry department about pending checks and area allocation.
What does this forestry payment calculator check?
Korea forestry direct payments are not automatic payments for owning woodland.
The land, actual forest-product production or silvicultural work, applicant requirements and continuing duties must qualify.
This tool helps foresters and family members translate registration records, area, working days and income into a conditional estimate and a list of questions for the local forestry office.
Korea-based 2026 rules
All money is KRW and land is measured in hectares.
The reference year is 2026, with rules checked on September 10, 2026.
The 2026 application window, March 4–April 30, has closed.
Use this page to review an existing application; a later year requires its own notice.
- Review each parcel after registration and land exclusions.
- Calculate general-product, songyi mushroom or silviculture bands, including individual, corporate and household caps.
- Save unconfirmed work, income and household checks with the parcel table for an authority review.
This calculator uses registration certificates, sales records and forest work logs, rather than land purchase prices or equipment budgets used in a rural-relocation calculator.
Its result is not an award letter and should not be treated as committed income or guaranteed debt-repayment funds.
2026 payment types and area rates
The rates come from Korea Forest Service Notice 2026-101.
General products and songyi mushrooms are forest-product production payments with different area bands.
Silviculture uses qualifying land with recognized planting or forest-tending work.
A small-household alternative pays KRW 1,300,000 annually per qualifying household.
| Type | Band 1 | Band 2 | Band 3 |
|---|---|---|---|
| General products | Up to 2 ha 940,000 KRW/ha | Over 2 through 6 ha 820,000 KRW/ha | Over 6 ha 700,000 KRW/ha |
| Songyi / silviculture | Up to 10 ha 620,000 KRW/ha | Over 10 through 20 ha 470,000 KRW/ha | Over 20 ha 320,000 KRW/ha |
Apply each declining rate only to the land in its own band.
Do not multiply the entire area by the last-band rate or deduct the minimum eligibility area first.
Rates may change by a later notice reflecting the budget, so verify them again for a new program year.
Minimum land, work and sales requirements
Forest-product production
An individual ordinarily needs at least 0.1 ha of eligible land and KRW 1,200,000 of recognized annual product sales.
An agricultural corporation needs at least 5 ha and KRW 45,000,000 of annual sales.
Both require at least one continuous year of work immediately before the application year, with at least 60 working days annually.
Silviculture
The minimum is 3 ha for an individual and 10 ha for an agricultural corporation.
The one-year and 60-day work requirements also apply.
The production-payment sales minimum of KRW 1,200,000 does not apply here.
Confirm land ownership or registered standing timber and an approved forest management plan separately.
An individual must have previous-year non-agricultural comprehensive income below KRW 37,000,000.
Exactly KRW 37,000,000 fails this threshold.
Use the legally defined amount after excluding agricultural income, rather than total salary, business turnover or all bank deposits.
This individual income threshold is not applied to corporations.
Use recognized annual sales supported by the permitted evidence and period.
The 2026 notice describes previous-year or application-year sales and certain annual-average evidence methods.
A simple receipt alone may be insufficient: verify transaction details and objective payment evidence with the reviewing office.
Registration dates and recognized silvicultural land
A date alone is not enough
The land must have been registered for relevant management information between April 1, 2019 and September 30, 2022, with registration still valid on October 1, 2022.
A current applicant registration date can differ from the historical registration of the land.
Check the parcel history in the certificate, including any succession, subdivision, shared interests or changes in rights.
- 1 ha = 10,000 m²; 3,000 m² is 0.3 ha, not 3 ha.
- Subtract fallow, converted, overlapping-payment or otherwise ineligible portions.
Check national or public forests and restricted land according to the payment type. - For silviculture, use land with recognized work in the ten years before the application year.
For 2026, check recognized planting or forest tending performed in 2016–2025 by the applicant, spouse or direct ascendant or descendant.
Repeated work on the same area does not create additional hectares.
A parcel with a confirmed out-of-window registration, invalid registration or ineligible-land answer contributes zero; other parcels remain available for review.
An unknown registration or eligibility answer keeps the total pending.
Pending does not mean rejected: it means the necessary evidence has not been entered or confirmed.
Rural residence and primary-business alternatives
Confirm legally defined rural residence in the same or an adjoining city, county or district as the land.
Living outside a major city does not automatically satisfy this definition.
Applicants outside the qualifying rural area may use the applicable primary-business test, but other work, income and land requirements still apply.
Production primary-business tests
An individual checks one of: managing at least 3 ha in the same or adjoining city/county as the address; at least KRW 16,000,000 annual product sales; or at least KRW 8,000,000 recognized annual management inputs.
For an agricultural corporation, the corresponding tests are 10 ha near its principal office, KRW 80,000,000 sales or KRW 40,000,000 management inputs.
Silviculture primary-business tests
An individual may qualify through at least 30 ha managed in the same province-level area as the address, including adjoining cities/counties.
Another route is at least 100 ha managed in the same or adjoining city/county plus either KRW 16,000,000 annual timber sales or KRW 8,000,000 management inputs.
An agricultural corporation checks at least 300 ha in the same province-level area as its principal office, including adjoining cities/counties.
The tool does not query administrative boundaries or validate expenditure evidence.
Choose the confirmation answer only after checking the applicable route against the records.
Managed land used for the primary-business test and land eligible for payment are different concepts; do not transfer the former amount directly into the payment formula.
30, 50 and 60 ha caps and overlapping benefits
The remaining cap for this applicant
The individual cap is 30 ha and the agricultural-corporation cap is 50 ha.
A household with multiple recipients also checks a combined 60 ha cap for the same payment type.
For production payments, subtract the applicant’s prior-year agricultural area-payment hectares before applying the remaining cap.
Payment area = smaller of reviewed eligible area and remaining cap
Payment = sum of each band’s area × its rate
An individual with 3 ha of general-product land and 29.5 ha paid under the previous-year agricultural area scheme has only 0.5 ha remaining.
The area-only reference is 0.5 × 940,000 = KRW 470,000.
If other conditions remain unknown, that is not a forecast of money to be received.
A current-year agricultural small-farm payment recipient and members of that farm household must check the production-payment exclusion.
The forestry small-household alternative also excludes current-year agricultural area-payment recipients and members of their farm households.
The same parcel cannot be claimed for agricultural, production and silviculture payments together.
Do not simply add independent general-product and songyi calculations.
The KRW 1,300,000 small-household alternative
Small land area alone does not establish eligibility.
Confirm household membership and the basic eligibility of every production-payment recipient; corporations are excluded.
The household can include a spouse, unmarried direct descendants under 19 and people separated into another household for less than three years for reasons other than marriage, even when not listed on the same residence record.
Additional conditions to check together
- Combined eligible production-payment land is ordinarily no more than 0.5 ha.
- Forest owned by all household members totals less than 1.55 ha, including non-payment land and land rented out.
- Every recipient has at least 3 continuous years of farming and 3 continuous years of rural residence immediately before the application year.
The farming history is separate from the forestry-work period entered earlier. - Each recipient’s previous-year non-agricultural comprehensive income is below KRW 20,000,000, while the combined amount for all members is below KRW 45,000,000.
- Each recipient’s facility-cultivation income is below KRW 38,000,000.
An exception can allow a choice above 0.5 ha when eligible land is below 1.55 ha, the other additional requirements hold, and the combined household area payment is strictly below KRW 1,300,000.
Equality does not satisfy that exception.
For multiple recipients, sum their separately calculated payments; this tool asks for an authority-confirmed combined amount rather than applying one set of bands to the household’s total land.
For a fully qualifying household with 0.5 ha of general-product land, the area reference is KRW 470,000 and the small-household alternative is KRW 1,300,000.
These are alternatives, not a combined KRW 1,770,000 payment.
If the additional conditions fail, review the ordinary area-payment result against the common eligibility requirements.
Step-by-step use and worked examples
- Choose general products, songyi or silviculture, the applicant type and whether ordinary rules apply.
- Enter each parcel’s registration date, area, excluded portion and validity/land-right confirmations.
- Enter work periods, days, sales, income, agricultural-payment records and other household allocations.
- Open the optional small-household section and include every relevant member’s records.
- Review pending or unmet rows and excess land, then save the CSV to compare with the supporting documents.
3 ha of general-product land
With 3.2 ha gross and 0.2 ha excluded, the reviewed area is 3 ha.
2 × 940,000 + 1 × 820,000 = KRW 2,700,000.
The example button uses fictional qualifying records, including 60 working days and KRW 1,200,000 sales; replace them with the actual evidence.
25 ha with silvicultural records
10 × 620,000 + 10 × 470,000 + 5 × 320,000 = KRW 12,500,000.
Although below the 30 ha individual cap, the registration, ownership, approved plan, work history, income and other conditions still require verification.
Practical scenarios and limits
Helping a parent review an application
If a land-register area differs from the application, separate the exclusions and historical registrations first.
A difference is not automatically an omitted benefit.
Sharing parcel areas and confirmation rows together makes the question for the forestry office clearer.
Allocating land within a household
Checking only a personal cap can overlook the combined household limit.
Enter confirmed allocations to the other recipients of the same payment type.
Household minimum periods, maximum individual incomes and total income must include the applicant.
Wildfire, succession and reductions require separate review
The 2026 notice describes relaxed work-day and sales-evidence requirements under the special relief law for the major Gyeongbuk, Gyeongnam and Ulsan wildfires.
Succession following age or illness, subdivision exceptions and mixed products also need case-specific review.
Choose “No” for ordinary rules in these situations and ask the authority.
The calculator does not invent a reduction percentage for missing education, work logs or other duties.
The displayed total is a planning amount rounded to whole won.
Official measurement, truncation, payment restrictions and budget adjustments can change the award.
The March 4–April 30, 2026 registration window has closed; the page does not promise late applications or retroactive payment.
Frequently asked questions
Does buying woodland immediately qualify me?
Ownership alone is insufficient.
Check the historical land registration, continuing validity, actual management, lawful rights and any acquisition or subdivision exception.
Are 60 working days enough regardless of area and income?
Days are only one requirement.
Minimum area, sales, income, residence or primary business and continuing duties must also be checked.
Do songyi and silviculture follow identical rules because their rates match?
No.
Songyi is a forest-product production activity.
The sales, minimum-area, ownership and recognized silvicultural-work requirements differ.
Does failing the small-household test mean zero payment?
Not necessarily.
An ordinary area payment can remain available if the common production requirements hold.
Failure of an additional small-household requirement is not rejection of every forestry payment.
What is the difference between a blank and zero?
A blank means unconfirmed.
Zero means the amount or area has been checked and none applies.
Do not replace missing records with zero.
Can I combine different parcels and products?
Enter distinct parcels belonging to the same applicant and payment type.
Mixed general products and songyi or overlapping claims on one parcel require separate review; independent results cannot simply be added.
Can I apply for 2026 now?
The verified regular window has closed.
Check the authority for any separately announced exception or additional window.
A future year follows its own notice.
Does the CSV submit an official application?
No.
It is a reference table containing inputs and pending checks.
It does not replace the official form, supporting documents or any required registration correction.
