Rhinitis and sinusitis surgery cost calculator

This page translates the Korean rhinitis and sinusitis guide for medication, coblation, turbinate surgery, septoplasty, FESS, bilateral surgery, combined septoplasty, turbinate or polyp removal, nasal packing, cosmetic-purpose risk, room, indemnity, and tax credit.

Main treatment costs

Medication and outpatient treatment use KRW 50,000 as the covered base. Coblation uses KRW 150,000 as the covered examination or local anesthesia component plus a non-covered coblation range from KRW 700,000 to KRW 1,600,000, with KRW 1,000,000 as the average.

Covered turbinate surgery uses KRW 350,000, septoplasty uses KRW 1,200,000, and FESS is determined by sinus extent. The comparison table uses KRW 2,520,000 for representative pansinus FESS.

  • Bilateral surgery uses a 1.8 multiplier rather than a full 2.0 multiplier.
  • Combined septoplasty adds KRW 900,000.
  • Combined turbinate surgery adds KRW 350,000.
  • Combined polyp removal adds KRW 500,000.
  • Nasal packing is modeled at KRW 100,000 to KRW 250,000.

Copay and claim caution

Inpatient covered surgery uses a 20 percent copay. Outpatient covered treatment uses 30 percent at clinics, 50 percent at general hospitals, and 60 percent at tertiary hospitals. Medical Aid and low-income overrides are preserved in the English calculator.

Cosmetic-purpose nasal surgery can change indemnity treatment. The Korean model keeps a dispute-risk flag instead of assuming that all nose-related procedures reimburse the same way.

Use of the result

The estimate is useful for comparing coblation with covered turbinate surgery, or isolated septoplasty with FESS plus combined procedures. It does not decide whether sinus extent, nasal obstruction, allergy, or cosmetic nasal surgery is clinically appropriate.
