Hospital caregiver cost calculator

This English page follows the Korean hospital caregiver guide for private one-to-one caregivers, shared caregivers, integrated nursing-care wards, patient severity, hospital type, region, days, weekend surcharge, meals, and private daily caregiver benefit.

Daily rate model

Private one-to-one caregiver cost is modeled at KRW 120,000 to KRW 180,000 per day in the planning guide. The actual calculation starts from hospital type and region, then adds severe-patient and male-caregiver surcharges where applicable.

Shared caregiver cost is lower because one caregiver covers two or three patients. Integrated nursing-care wards use fixed daily patient charges by room grade, with six-bed rooms lower than two-bed rooms.

Surcharges and insurance benefit

Weekend and holiday surcharge, caregiver meal cost, and private daily caregiver benefit are separate inputs. Private caregiver insurance reduces the net total only up to the selected daily benefit multiplied by care days.

Integrated nursing-care wards do not use the same meal, weekend, and private-insurance assumptions as private caregivers because the care is delivered through the hospital ward service.

Comparison use

The Korean result compares private, shared, and integrated care and identifies the cheapest type. It also shows savings versus private one-to-one care so families can quantify the impact of a ward change or shared-care option.

Care availability, hospital ward assignment, infection-control rules, patient mobility, night supervision, and insurer documents can all change the final family burden.
