Hysterectomy surgery cost calculator

This English page translates the Korean hysterectomy cost guide and keeps the same calculation assumptions for vaginal, laparoscopic, single-port, abdominal, and robotic surgery, cancer special-case copay, BSO, room choice, caregiver cost, indemnity generation, and tax credit.

Approach and covered surgery fee

The Korean model treats approach as the main cost driver. Vaginal hysterectomy is modeled with a KRW 2,300,000 covered surgery fee and 3 default stay days. Laparoscopic hysterectomy uses KRW 2,800,000 and 3 days. Single-port laparoscopy keeps the KRW 2,800,000 covered base and adds a KRW 1,500,000 single-port non-covered add-on.

Open abdominal hysterectomy uses a KRW 2,600,000 covered surgery fee and a 6-day default stay. Robotic hysterectomy is modeled as a non-covered surgery fee with KRW 8,500,000 as the average, reflecting a Korean guide range around KRW 7,000,000 to KRW 10,000,000 before room and optional items.

  • Subtotal hysterectomy uses a 0.92 covered-fee multiplier.
  • Total hysterectomy uses the base multiplier 1.0.
  • Radical hysterectomy uses a 1.55 multiplier and is linked to cancer scenarios.
  • Bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy adds KRW 500,000 as a covered add-on.

Copay, room, and non-covered items

Ordinary benign inpatient surgery is modeled with a 20 percent inpatient NHI copay. Cancer special-case registration uses a 5 percent copay. Low-income status overrides the copay to 14 percent, and medical aid uses 10 percent.

The source keeps admission and room costs visible. Standard ward admission uses KRW 100,000 per day as the full covered ward fee. Two-bed room surcharge is KRW 150,000 per day, private room surcharge is KRW 300,000 per day, PCA pain-control injection is KRW 150,000, and caregiver cost is KRW 100,000 per day outside indemnity reimbursement.

Insurance and planning notes

Private indemnity is applied by generation to covered copay, non-covered items, and upper-room surcharge. Generation 5 keeps the same 20 percent covered copay in the source model but raises the non-covered copay to 50 percent for this gynecologic surgery model.

The estimate is not a surgical recommendation. Myoma, adenomyosis, prolapse, endometriosis, cancer stage, ovarian removal, future hormone considerations, and approach feasibility must be reviewed with the gynecologist.
