Korean driver license acquisition cost

This English guide follows the Korean calculator logic and preserves the Korean won amounts, statutory thresholds, vehicle categories, penalty rates, subsidy caps, and administrative assumptions used by the source page.

Exam and issuance fees

The license-cost model keeps the Korean exam-fee table by license type. Class 1 large, Class 1 ordinary, Class 2 manual, and Class 2 automatic use KRW 10,000 written exam, KRW 25,000 practical exam, and KRW 30,000 road test. Class 2 small uses KRW 10,000 written and KRW 14,000 practical with no road test, and motorized bicycle uses KRW 8,000 written and KRW 10,000 practical.

Physical exam fees are KRW 7,000 for Class 1 large and KRW 6,000 for the other listed types. License issuance is KRW 10,000 for the physical license and KRW 15,000 for mobile license issuance. Self-study cases that require a road test add the KRW 4,000 practice-license fee.

Academy fee by region and license type

Academy cost starts from a regional base fee for Class 1 or Class 2 ordinary licenses. Seoul is KRW 950,000, Gyeonggi KRW 870,000, Incheon KRW 830,000, Busan KRW 760,000, Daegu KRW 730,000, Gwangju KRW 700,000, Daejeon KRW 710,000, and Jeju KRW 720,000.

License-type multipliers are also preserved. Class 1 large uses 1.8 times the regional base, ordinary Class 1 and Class 2 use 1.0, Class 2 small uses 0.55, and motorized bicycle uses 0.45. Retake counts multiply the same written, practical, and road-test fees, so failing one stage is not averaged away.
