Korean dormant-license and road-training cost

This English guide follows the Korean calculator logic and preserves the Korean won amounts, statutory thresholds, vehicle categories, penalty rates, subsidy caps, and administrative assumptions used by the source page.

Hourly rates and regional adjustment

The road-training calculator uses provider and car-type rates. Visiting private training starts from KRW 31,000 per hour with the learner own car and KRW 35,000 per hour with an instructor car. Driving academy road training uses KRW 45,000 per hour with the learner own car and KRW 50,000 per hour with an instructor car.

Regional multipliers keep Seoul at 1.00, Gyeonggi and Incheon at 0.97, Busan, Daegu, Gwangju, Daejeon, Ulsan, and Sejong at 0.92, Jeju at 0.95, and several provincial regions at 0.88. The calculator multiplies the hourly rate by this regional factor before the package discount.

  • Package discount is 5 percent from 10 hours, 8 percent from 15 hours, and 10 percent from 20 hours.
  • Weekend or night training adds 15 percent after the package discount.
  • Under-26 insurance adds KRW 30,000.
  • Highway training adds KRW 20,000 for toll, fuel, and extra equipment assumptions.

Recommended hours by skill level

The source guide distinguishes complete beginners, dormant-license refreshers, and intermediate drivers. Complete beginners are guided toward 15 to 20 hours, dormant-license drivers toward 10 to 15 hours, and intermediate drivers toward 6 to 10 hours.

The result also compares own car versus instructor car and visiting training versus academy training under the same conditions. This is useful because the cheapest headline hourly rate can change once weekend sessions, insurance, and highway practice are included.
