This page translates the Korean stroke rehabilitation guide for acute, recovery, and maintenance phases, inpatient or outpatient setting, therapy mix, intensive or standard session count, robot rehab, manual therapy, room, caregiver, copay ceiling, indemnity, and tax credit.

Covered rehabilitation model

The Korean source uses KRW 80,000 per inpatient day as a base rehabilitation admission fee and KRW 15,000 as an outpatient base visit fee. Therapy fees are then added by selected therapy type: physical therapy KRW 30,000, occupational therapy KRW 25,000, speech therapy KRW 25,000, swallowing therapy KRW 25,000, and cognitive therapy KRW 20,000.

Intensive rehabilitation uses 2 sessions and standard rehabilitation uses 1 session in the source model. Inpatient covered rehab usually uses a 20 percent copay, while acute vascular special-case treatment can use 5 percent for up to 30 inpatient days when the acute surgery or procedure flag is selected.

Non-covered rehab and care items

Robot rehabilitation is modeled at KRW 50,000 per session and manual therapy at KRW 100,000 per session. Two-bed room surcharge is KRW 150,000 per day, private room surcharge is KRW 300,000 per day, shared caregiver cost is KRW 25,000 per day, and private caregiver cost is KRW 130,000 per day.

Outpatient copay varies by facility: 30 percent at clinics, 40 percent at rehabilitation or nursing hospitals, and 50 percent at general hospitals. The 2026 copay ceiling table runs from KRW 900,000 in income decile 1 to KRW 8,430,000 in decile 10.

Planning notes

Caregiver cost is kept outside the tax-credit medical base in the source model, while robot rehab, manual therapy, and extra non-covered medical items can affect private reimbursement and tax credit differently.

Use the result for a budget conversation with the rehabilitation hospital, insurer, and family caregiver plan. Functional status, swallowing risk, speech needs, cognition, transfer ability, and expected length of stay matter more than a single monthly number.
