Chronic disease lifetime management cost calculator

This page follows the Korean chronic-disease lifetime guide for diabetes, hypertension, or both; age, sex, management intensity, care location, visits, HbA1c, kidney panel, lipid panel, eye care, devices, primary-care program saving, life expectancy, inflation, and tax credit.

Annual management model

Clinic copay rate is 30 percent, hospital 40 percent, general hospital 50 percent, and tertiary hospital 60 percent in the source model. The calculator uses those location multipliers for visits, labs, and education cost.

Diabetes standard management uses four visits per year, four HbA1c checks per year, one kidney panel, one lipid panel, one eye exam, one foot exam, and one education session. Hypertension and combined-disease presets use separate schedules.

The primary-care chronic disease program discount factor is 20/30 for eligible clinic-based visits, labs, and education. That means the program reduces the modeled clinic copay basis from 30 percent to 20 percent for qualifying items.

Lifetime projection

Remaining life expectancy is interpolated from the Korean table by sex and current age. Lifetime mode clamps the planning horizon between 5 and 60 years, while manual mode lets the user set a direct year count.

Medical expense tax credit uses the 3 percent salary threshold and 15 percent rate. General dependent mode applies a KRW 7,000,000 cap to eligible expenses, while self mode does not apply that same cap in the calculator.

How to use the result

The result separates annual gross cost, annual tax credit, annual net cost, monthly net cost, lifetime gross and net totals, program savings, top cost category, milestones, and yearly roadmap.

Use the estimate with a clinician care plan, prescription changes, device needs, checkup schedule, insurer documents, and household tax situation. It is a long-term budget map, not a medical treatment plan.
