Caregiver cost assumptions

The Korean model distinguishes private caregiver and shared caregiver use. It also changes the daily care rate by hospital type, including tertiary hospital, general hospital, and nursing hospital assumptions.

Expected admissions, average days per admission, per-admission limit days, total limit days, and exemption days determine paid care days. The result therefore reflects whether the policy actually pays for the expected care period.

Benefit and self-pay

The calculator reports expected benefit, net benefit, total paid days, total care days, actual care cost, net care cost after insurance, coverage ratio, and coverage gap per day.

It also applies the Korean 13.2% protection-insurance tax credit when selected. The tax credit can reduce net premium, but it cannot solve a policy whose daily benefit is too low for actual caregiver rates.

Frequency scenarios

Conservative, standard, and optimistic frequency scenarios are used to stress test care usage. A policy that looks unfavorable under conservative care days may become favorable if long admissions are plausible.

The break-even care days metric tells how many paid care days are required to recover premiums. This is more useful than comparing only monthly premium.
