Uses the Korean 2026 survivor and disability pension engine, including 40%, 50%, and 60% survivor rates plus the own-pension concurrent comparison. This English finance calculator calls the same Korean pure calculation module as the Korean page. KRW and Korean statutory thresholds are preserved instead of the old generic percentage stub.

National Pension survivor and disability pension guide

This English guide translates the Korean NPS survivor and disability pension page. The calculator calls calculateSurvivorDisability and keeps the Korean basic-pension formula, dependent additions, survivor percentages, disability-grade rules, and concurrent-pension comparison.

Survivor pension rate by contribution period

The Korean NPS survivor pension is based on the deceased subscriber contribution period. The engine uses 40% when the period is under 10 years, 50% when the period is at least 10 years but under 20 years, and 60% when the period is 20 years or more.

The basic annual pension calculation uses the 1.29 proportional constant and the 2026 A-value in the same way as the Korean pension modules. Dependent additions are then added separately, including spouse, child, and parent dependent amounts.

Concurrent old-age and survivor pension

If a surviving spouse already receives their own old-age pension, the Korean rule compares two choices: keep the own old-age pension and add 30% concurrent survivor pension, or receive only the survivor pension. The calculator displays the larger option and the gap.

That concurrent rule matters because a survivor pension headline amount can be higher than the incremental payment actually available to someone already receiving an old-age pension. The English page therefore preserves the own-pension input instead of hiding it.

Disability pension and grade 4 lump sum

Disability grades 1, 2, and 3 are pension grades and apply 100%, 80%, and 60% rates to the basic pension amount. Grade 4 is not a recurring disability pension; the Korean engine treats it as a lump-sum disability compensation amount.

For grade 4, the model preserves the 225% lump-sum rule. The generation of grade rows lets a user compare every grade under the same months, average income, and dependent-addition assumptions.
