Uses the Korean health-insurance dependent engine with the KRW 20 million income threshold, property-base rule, and transition premium calculation. This English finance calculator calls the same Korean pure calculation module as the Korean page. KRW and Korean statutory thresholds are preserved instead of the old generic percentage stub.

Health insurance dependent qualification guide

This English guide translates the Korean National Health Insurance dependent calculator. The calculator calls calculateAll and preserves income, property, relation, transition-discount, and local-premium estimation rules.

Income test

The ordinary annual income threshold is KRW 20 million annual income threshold. If combined earned, business, rental, interest, dividend, public-pension, and other income exceeds that line, dependent qualification generally fails.

There are sharper checks for business and rental income. Business registration and housing rental income can fail the income test even when the total looks modest, so the English calculator exposes those flags instead of showing only a single income box.

Property and conditional income zone

The Korean reform also uses the property tax base, not market value alone. When property is in the conditional zone, the income limit tightens to the KRW 10 million conditional income threshold, and when the property base exceeds the upper line the dependent status fails regardless of low income.

If dependent status fails, the calculator estimates the local subscriber premium from income, property score, vehicle value, health-insurance premium, and long-term-care premium. That local subscriber premium gives a practical view of the monthly cash-flow impact.

Relation test and transition treatment

Spouse, parent, child, and sibling cases are not identical. The Korean engine checks age, cohabitation, marriage status, and disability or veteran status, especially for sibling and lineal-family cases.

The transition-discount option estimates how premiums phase in for people affected by reform. It does not restore dependent qualification, but it can reduce the first-year and later-year local premium shown in the result.
