Korean unrepaired repair-cost cash settlement

This English guide follows the Korean calculator logic and preserves the Korean rates, thresholds, statutory periods, and insurance assumptions used by the source page.

Actual repair payout versus unrepaired settlement

A Korean unrepaired repair-cost settlement usually pays less than actual repair because the unrepaired cash amount excludes VAT 10 percent and can be reduced by insurer recognition rate. The calculator keeps that distinction visible.

For a third-party liability claim, the model applies the claimant fault ratio but no own-damage deductible. For an own-damage claim, the deductible is applied to both actual repair and unrepaired settlement paths.

  • Default parts, labor, and paint are KRW 800,000, KRW 300,000, and KRW 200,000.
  • Default recognition rate is 100 percent and default fault ratio is 0 percent.
  • The result shows VAT exclusion loss and negotiation loss separately.

Depreciation and tax treatment

If a major part such as engine, transmission, or structural frame is replaced, the Korean function applies parts depreciation based on vehicle age. Exterior panel work without major part replacement does not trigger that parts depreciation in the model.

The Korean content treats the cash settlement as damage compensation rather than taxable income. It is therefore modeled as non-taxable, while still preserving the practical loss from VAT exclusion and recognition cuts.
