The VAT calculation uses the Korean utility lib, including 10 percent VAT, VAT-included splitting, and floor/round/ceil handling. This English calculator calls the Korean page feature lib directly. The UI is translated, but the numbers come from the same pure calculation path instead of a generic value-times-rate stub.

VAT calculator

This English VAT guide translates the Korean VAT article and uses the real utility VAT lib to calculate supply value, VAT amount, total amount, and rounding.

Standard VAT formula

For ordinary taxable supplies in Korea, VAT is generally 10 percent of the supply value. If the entered price excludes VAT, the calculator adds VAT to the supply value. If the entered price already includes VAT, it divides the total by 1.1 to recover the supply value.

This matters for quotes, tax invoices, expense approval, and contract wording. A quote of KRW 3,000,000 plus VAT is not the same as a VAT-included KRW 3,000,000 total.

Rounding and invoice use

The Korean utility supports floor, round, and ceil options. Floor rounding is often used for practical VAT calculations, while round or ceil can be useful when matching another accounting system or invoice format.

The result shows supply value, VAT amount, total amount, and the rounding description. Users can copy those figures into estimates, electronic tax invoices, purchase approvals, or bookkeeping records.

General, simplified, zero-rated, and exempt context

The basic VAT calculator is intentionally simple, but the original Korean guide also distinguishes ordinary taxable businesses, simplified taxpayers, zero-rated supplies, and exempt supplies. Zero-rated supplies can still support input VAT deduction; exempt supplies generally do not create output VAT or input VAT deduction.

For filing, businesses should compare output VAT from sales with input VAT from purchases. This page handles single-amount math; the VAT refund and tax saving page handles broader filing-period planning.
