Korea annual leave calculator guide
This English page translates the Korean annual-leave calculator and calls calculateAnnualLeave from the utilities feature library. It preserves Labor Standards Act Article 60 logic, 80% attendance, first-year monthly leave, 15-day basic leave, long-service additions, 25-day cap, company extra leave, usage, and expiration warning.
Work period and attendance
The Korean function calculates service period from hire date to calculation date in total days, years, months, and days. It then checks attendance rate either from entered work days or from a manual attendance percentage.
Annual leave generation requires the modeled 80% attendance threshold. If attendance is below the threshold, the legal-leave output is set to zero even if the service period would otherwise generate leave.
First-year and over-one-year leave
For employees with less than one year of service, the source grants 1 day per month up to 11 days. For employees with at least one year of service, the basic annual leave is 15 days.
Additional long-service leave is added every two years after the relevant service threshold, subject to the maximum annual leave cap of 25 days. The English page displays first-year leave, basic leave, additional leave, and total legal leave separately.
Company policy and usage
The calculator can add company-policy leave on top of legal leave. It then calculates total available leave, used leave, remaining leave, and usage rate.
This matters because a company may offer additional leave beyond the statutory floor, but statutory leave and internal-policy leave may have different management and expiration practices. The English page keeps company additional leave as a distinct input.
Expiration and planning
The Korean source includes expiration-year assumptions and a warning when remaining leave is close to year-end. It also creates recommendations for low usage, large remaining balances, early-tenure workers, and attendance issues.
Actual annual-leave rights can depend on employment start date, attendance records, part-time status, leave substitution agreements, company rules, and labor-law changes. The calculator provides the same structured estimate as the Korean page.
