Yellow Umbrella tax saving calculator

This page translates the Korean Yellow Umbrella deduction guide for small business owners and corporate representatives, preserving income-based deduction limits, progressive tax, local tax, and retirement receipt simulation.

Deduction limits

The Korean model applies the income-tiered Yellow Umbrella deduction limit. The guide preserves the KRW 5 million limit for lower income, the KRW 3 million middle tier, and the KRW 2 million higher-income tier, rather than treating every payment as fully deductible.

Annual payment is calculated from monthly contribution and capped by the applicable limit. Dependents, national pension, health insurance, and other deductions are then included before progressive income tax and local income tax are recomputed.

Effective return

The tax saving is converted into a monthly saving and effective return. The default guide uses a 2.7 percent interest assumption in the fund simulation, but the input can be changed to test a different applied rate.

The fund simulation accumulates contributions, interest, retirement income tax, local tax, and net receivable. This matters because the account is not only an annual deduction tool; the later withdrawal tax also affects the net benefit.

Planning use

Use this calculator to find whether increasing the monthly payment actually increases the deduction. Once the annual payment exceeds the relevant income-tier limit, additional contribution can still build retirement reserves but may not increase current-year tax savings.

Corporate representatives and individual business owners should compare the Yellow Umbrella result with pension savings, IRP, health-insurance deductions, and cash-flow needs because the best contribution level is not always the maximum monthly payment.
