Professional tax optimization calculator

This English page translates the Korean professional tax guide for doctors, lawyers, accountants, architects, and similar professionals, including VAT, social insurance, employees, and corporation conversion.

Professional income and expenses

Professional businesses often face high revenue, employee payroll, and sincere-reporting issues. The calculator compares actual bookkeeping with estimated standard expense-rate treatment and includes employee salary cost when calculating business income.

Deductions include the basic deduction, dependent deductions, pension and health-insurance deductions, Yellow Umbrella deduction, donations, and other deductions. Tax is then calculated under Korean progressive income tax brackets with local income tax added.

VAT and insurance

Some professional categories are VAT-exempt while others apply 10 percent VAT. The model distinguishes output VAT, input VAT, and VAT payable rather than folding VAT into income tax.

The result also includes national pension, health insurance, long-term care insurance, and employer-side employee insurance cost. This gives a closer picture of professional cash flow than an income-tax-only calculation.

Corporation comparison

When corporation comparison is enabled, the model calculates corporate tax, corporate local tax, CEO salary income tax, CEO local tax, and dividend tax. Dividends use the 15.4 percent withholding tax rate in this comparison.

The calculator flags sincere-reporting target status where the profession and revenue meet the Korean threshold. Use the output before converting to a corporation, changing CEO salary, hiring staff, or choosing actual versus estimated expense filing.
