Housework and childcare outsourcing ROI guide

This English page translates the Korean housework-childcare outsourcing ROI calculator and calls calculateOutsourcingROI. It preserves MIN_WAGE_2026 KRW 10,320, WEEKS_PER_MONTH 4.345, housekeeper, laundry, meal-kit, cleaning-service, daycare, babysitter, academy, pickup, government-support, opportunity-cost, freed-time, and career-preservation logic.

Outsourcing cost structure

Housework cost is built from housekeeper hourly rate times hours per visit times visits per week times 4.345 weeks per month, plus optional laundry, meal-kit, and cleaning-service cost. The default housekeeper reference uses KRW 15,000 per hour with a 2026 minimum-wage floor of KRW 10,320.

Childcare cost is calculated per child. The default tables include daycare, babysitter, academy, and pickup service. Examples include infant daycare KRW 540,000, toddler daycare KRW 350,000, elementary-low academy KRW 500,000, and pickup service KRW 150,000.

Government support

The 2026 support model includes parent allowance of KRW 1,000,000 for infants, child allowance of KRW 100,000 for children under age 8, daycare support such as KRW 540,000 for age 0 and KRW 280,000 for ages 3 to 5, and childcare-service voucher support by income level.

Voucher self-pay rates are 0% for ga, 25% for na, 50% for da, 75% for ra, and 100% for general. The calculator subtracts support from gross outsourcing cost to get net outsourcing cost.

Opportunity value and career preservation

Opportunity value uses the lower spouse hourly rate so the model does not overstate household time value. It adds housework hours, childcare hours, optional side-job income, and optional self-development future raise value.

Career preservation compares cumulative income with and without a career break over 5, 10, and 20 years. This is why the calculator can show a positive ROI even when monthly outsourcing cash cost feels high.
