Device replacement optimizer guide

This English page translates the Korean device replacement optimizer and calls calculateFullAnalysis, calculateAdjustedResidualValue, calculateCPDTrend, findOptimalReplacementMonth, analyzeRepairVsReplace, and getReplacementVerdict. It keeps CPD, resale value, battery-health, performance-score, complaint, repair, and new-device installment logic.

Residual value and condition factor

The source model starts with device-specific annual depreciation: smartphone 25%, laptop 20%, tablet 22%, smartwatch 30%, earphone 35%, and other devices 25%. It then adjusts the residual value by a condition factor built from battery health, performance score, and complaint count.

Battery health contributes 40% of the condition factor, performance score contributes 30%, and complaint count contributes 30% after a penalty. Below 70% battery health, low performance, many complaints, or discontinued OS support can move the verdict toward replacement.

CPD and optimal timing

CPD means cost per day. The Korean calculator divides purchase price minus current residual value by usage days, then simulates the next 36 months to see where CPD is minimized and when a new device becomes cheaper on a daily-use basis.

For the new device side, the model subtracts carrier subsidy for carrier purchase, calculates 24- or 36-month installments when applicable, and compares new-device CPD over the expected usage period.

Repair versus replacement

Repair analysis uses the device repair table. A smartphone battery replacement can add about 15 months, an OLED screen repair can add about 18 months, and a charging-port repair can add about 9 months. Laptops include battery, SSD, RAM, keyboard, and fan-cleaning scenarios.

The output is best used as a timing and cost signal. Warranty, trade-in promotion, used-market liquidity, data migration time, work dependency, and environmental reuse should still be checked before replacing a working device.
