1. Equipment and expected service life

Group only equipment with the same model and rates. For systems, align the quote per indoor unit or per complete system. Lifetimes are your assumptions, not manufacturer guarantees. Type and location changes do not automatically change prices.

2. Pipe length and additional work

Pipe lengths, brackets, and holes are whole-job totals. Deduct only new pipe included in the base quote, and reuse only when approved by the installer.

3. Itemized relocation quotes

For fixed quotes, enter the same low and high amount. Avoid adding items already included in the base fee. Separate-visit costs mean only the surcharge beyond removal and installation.

Unchecked work and zero-count items are excluded. Rates remain editable; the printed billed quantity shows what is applied.

Removal at the old address, transport, new piping, brackets, drilling, and access to an outdoor unit can create separate charges.

Match equipment, quantity, and outdoor-unit location

Wall-mounted and floor-standing units

Combine only equipment with the same model and unit rates.
If rooms have different equipment or pricing, prepare separate calculations.
Changing the equipment type does not change the prices automatically: replace the example with a quote for that exact equipment.

2-in-1 sets and ceiling systems

Count a 2-in-1 package as a set and enter set prices.
Do not count its two indoor units as two complete sets.
For a system, establish whether the quote is per indoor unit or per complete system, then align the quantity.
Compatibility, ceiling access, power, drainage, and relocation feasibility require an installer assessment before the comparison is enabled.

Balcony, exterior-wall, and rooftop locations are context for checking access.
The calculator does not add a percentage surcharge from the location alone.
Ask about equipment access, building-management arrangements, and the actual work method, then enter any separate whole-job height-work quote.
Leaving that option unchecked is not a safety assessment.

Calculate chargeable new pipe length

Pipe formula

Chargeable pipe = max(0, total required length − installer-approved reused length − included new length).
For 8 m required, 5 m of new pipe included, and no approved reuse, the chargeable length is 3 m.
At a fictional KRW 20,000–25,000 per metre, the pipe line costs KRW 60,000–75,000.

Enter whole-job pipe lengths.
If two routes require 4 m and 6 m, enter 10 m in total; this length is not multiplied by equipment quantity again.
Use the route the pipes actually follow, and check whether the quoted metre price covers the paired pipe run.
Sum the included new length across the job only when the written quote actually provides that allowance.

Entering reusable length alone does not reduce the charge.
The installer-approved reuse checkbox must also be selected.
Condition, size, connectors, and the equipment installation policy can affect whether piping is reusable.
Keep included new piping and reused piping separate so the same segment is not deducted twice.
If their combined allowance exceeds required length, chargeable length becomes zero and a review message appears.
Add inspection, cleaning, or connector work under other extras only when it is not already included elsewhere.

Build an itemized relocation estimate

Quantity-based lines

Reinstallation and relocation removal use the equipment or set count.
Brackets and drilling use their own item counts.
If a provider quotes one total, ask for consistent unit pricing or treat the quoted complete system as one matching work unit.
Do not combine a whole-job quote with a per-unit quantity multiplier.

Whole-job lines

Transport, height work, separate refrigerant charging, separate-visit surcharges, and other extras are whole-job totals.
They are not multiplied when equipment quantity changes.
Obtain an updated total if the vehicle, distance, or number of visits changes.

Separate removal and installation dates do not automatically imply a surcharge.
Enter only a quoted extra beyond the ordinary removal and installation charges.
If your moving company already covers removal, switch off the separate relocation-removal charge after checking its scope.
Likewise, do not add a second height-work or refrigerant line when that work is included in the base quote.

This tool does not infer refrigerant quantity from equipment type or age.
Ask which refrigerant work is needed, whether it is included in piping charges, and how much is billed separately.
Low and high prices must describe the same scope: removal alone and a complete relocation package are not two ends of one comparable estimate.
Use final tax-inclusive amounts throughout.
For a fixed price, make low and high equal; zero means confirmed free, included, or unnecessary, not unknown.

Separate replacement, resale, and free collection

Net replacement formula

Net replacement = new equipment price × quantity + new installation extras + old equipment removal + actual collection charge − used sale proceeds.
Subtract the highest sale proceeds from the lowest replacement expenditure for the lower net bound, and the lowest sale proceeds from the highest expenditure for the upper bound.
For gross replacement of KRW 1,350,000–1,610,000 and whole-job sale proceeds of KRW 100,000–200,000, net replacement is KRW 1,150,000–1,510,000.

Free waste-appliance collection is not a cash discount on a new air conditioner.
Confirm eligibility, collection access, and booking before setting only the collection charge to zero.
Removing installed equipment and preparing a difficult-to-access outdoor unit can still require separate work.
The replacement-removal charge remains in the calculation unless you enter zero because a seller confirms that it is included or free.

Selecting used sale disables disposal collection charges.
Enter actual expected proceeds for all equipment being sold and agree who pays dismantling costs.
If the stated proceeds already deduct removal, avoid adding the same cost again under replacement removal.
The calculator limits the upper sale credit to the lower total new-equipment price to prevent excessive credits.
Enter a new-equipment quote before entering resale proceeds if that comparison price is still missing.

Worked fictional example: one floor-standing unit

These numbers verify the arithmetic and are not current market prices.
Assume one unit, 8 m required piping, 5 m included new piping, and one bracket.
No separate drilling, refrigerant, height work, extra visit, or miscellaneous charge is applied.

Assume comparable new equipment costs KRW 1,200,000–1,400,000, installation extras KRW 100,000–150,000, removal KRW 50,000–60,000, and collection zero.
Replacement is KRW 1,350,000–1,610,000, compared with relocation of KRW 350,000–445,000.
Replacement minus relocation is KRW 905,000–1,260,000.
The lower difference uses the lowest replacement cost minus the highest relocation cost; subtracting low from low would understate the full uncertainty in the difference.

Understand cost per remaining service year

Upfront cash and annualized cost answer different questions

Remaining life = max(0, assumed total old-equipment life − current age).
At age 7 with an assumed total life of 12 years, the existing unit has 5 assumed years left.
The example relocation cost becomes KRW 70,000–89,000 per remaining year.
Dividing replacement by 10 assumed new-equipment years gives KRW 135,000–161,000 per year.
If age is at least the assumed total life, remaining life is zero and relocation annualization is unavailable.

The two comparisons can disagree.
Relocation of KRW 400,000 with one year left is cheaper upfront than a KRW 1,500,000 replacement lasting an assumed 10 years.
However, their simple annualized amounts are KRW 400,000 and KRW 150,000 respectively.
Try changing remaining life by one year to see whether your conclusion depends strongly on that assumption.

These metrics divide initial costs by different periods.
They exclude electricity, efficiency differences, future repairs, subsequent replacement, and discounting.
They are not a same-horizon lifetime ownership-cost analysis, a manufacturer life prediction, or a definitive purchase recommendation.

Overlapping ranges mean no clear winner

Relocation wins only if its upper bound is below the replacement lower bound.
Replacement wins only if its upper bound is below the relocation lower bound.
Ranges that touch or overlap have no definite cost advantage; two identical fixed amounts are equal.
These are user-entered quote bounds, not confidence intervals or probabilities.
A wholly positive replacement-minus-relocation difference favors relocation upfront, while a wholly negative interval favors replacement.

Practical scenarios and common omissions

The new home has embedded piping

Existing piping is not necessarily approved reusable piping.
Deduct only the inspected, usable portion and add any separately billed cleaning or connector work.
Leave reuse unconfirmed until an installer assesses it.

Moving and installation happen on different dates

Agree who transports and stores the removed equipment and whether an extra visit is included.
If transport is already covered by the moving bill, do not charge it again here.
Add only the confirmed separate-visit surcharge and reconcile the printed estimate with the complete moving budget.

Removing necessary work from the estimate simply to lower its upper bound makes the comparison less useful.
Have a qualified installer assess connections, outdoor-unit mounting, drainage, and test operation.
This tool does not book contractors, query live product prices, rank providers, assess safety, or decide refund and warranty rights.
Recalculate when prices or included services change instead of relying on an old saved quote.

Why does changing equipment type not update prices?

There is no universal tariff for wall-mounted, floor-standing, or system equipment.
Replace the fictional values with a quote for the selected equipment.

Does moving two units double every charge?

Only reinstallation and relocation removal use equipment quantity.
Transport, height work, refrigerant, and extra visits are whole-job totals; pipe cost uses whole-job chargeable length.

Is a refrigerant charge always necessary?

It is not added automatically.
Ask the installer what work is needed and whether it is already included in base or pipe charges, then enable a separately billed amount if applicable.

Does free collection also remove dismantling costs?

No.
The confirmation zeroes only the collection fee.
Retain separately quoted dismantling and any work needed to make the equipment accessible for collection.

Can I deduct both used sale and free disposal?

Choose one disposition for the same equipment.
Used sale applies the actual expected sale credit, while disposal applies the collection charge or confirmed zero collection fee.

Does zero remaining life mean I must buy a new unit?

No.
It means your assumed total life is no greater than the age, so annualization has no positive denominator.
Revisit the assumption after checking equipment condition.

Is the printed estimate a binding final quotation?

No.
It records your entered quotes and assumptions.
The installer must confirm measured pipe length, extra work, tax-inclusive final pricing, and the actual installation scope.
