What Is the Korea Crime Victim Relief Fund Calculator?

This calculator estimates Korea crime victim relief money for survivor relief, disability relief, and serious injury relief. It preserves the Korean formula based on the 2026 monthly average wage, statutory month multipliers, income caps, survivor floors, family-relation exclusions, victim-fault reductions, and prior-compensation deductions.

The English calculator calls the same Korean pure function used by the Korean page. That means the amount shown here follows the Korean model rather than a generic percentage of the claimed loss.

Important Note

Crime victim relief is a public relief system, not a civil judgment against the offender. The final payment can change after agency review of relationship, victim fault, criminal facts, existing insurance, and compensation already received.

Relief Type Logic

  • Survivor relief applies month multipliers by survivor relationship, such as 48 months for spouse, child under 24, or disabled child.
  • Disability relief applies grades 1 to 14, with higher grades receiving more months.
  • Serious injury relief uses the treatment-month input within the statutory range.
  • If income is unknown, the calculator uses the average wage rather than forcing the user to invent income.

Reductions and Deductions

The Korean model separately applies family-relation exclusions, victim-fault reductions, and deductions for compensation already received. These are not the same as civil contributory negligence, but they materially affect public relief payment.

The result also divides survivor relief by the number of equal-priority survivors so that the per-person result matches the Korean calculation logic.

FAQ

Why can the amount be lower than the statutory maximum?

The maximum is only a cap. Relationship exclusions, victim fault, and amounts already recovered can reduce the actual relief estimate.

Does this replace a civil damages claim?

No. Crime victim relief is a public benefit estimate. Civil damages, insurance, settlement, and restitution should be reviewed separately.

This English page translates and adapts the Korean calculator content for Korea-based estimates. The interactive calculator reuses the same Korean pure calculation function as the Korean page, so the numerical result is aligned with the Korean service.
