This page translates the Korean prostate-cancer treatment guide and keeps the same active surveillance, open surgery, laparoscopic surgery, robotic RARP, radiation, hormone therapy, PLND, nerve-sparing, cancer special-case, room, caregiver, indemnity, and tax-credit assumptions.

Treatment fee table

Active surveillance is modeled at KRW 400,000 per year for PSA, MRI, and biopsy-style follow-up. Open radical prostatectomy uses KRW 5,500,000 and 7 default stay days. Laparoscopic radical prostatectomy uses KRW 7,900,000 and 6 days.

Robotic RARP has no covered surgery-fee base in the model; the robotic surgery fee is non-covered, with KRW 9,000,000 to KRW 15,000,000 and KRW 10,000,000 average. IMRT radiation uses KRW 6,000,000 as a covered outpatient course estimate, and ADT hormone therapy uses KRW 1,800,000 per year.

Cancer special case and surgical add-ons

Pelvic lymph-node dissection adds KRW 1,200,000 as a covered add-on. Standard ward fee is KRW 100,000 per day. Ordinary inpatient copay is 20 percent, but prostate cancer special-case registration uses 5 percent. Outpatient covered treatment uses 30 percent at hospitals, 50 percent at general hospitals, and 60 percent at tertiary hospitals.

Room surcharge is KRW 150,000 per day for a two-bed room and KRW 300,000 per day for a private room. PCA is KRW 150,000, and caregiver cost is KRW 130,000 per day outside indemnity reimbursement.

Claim and treatment context

The Korean guide flags robotic non-covered fees as a common dispute point for private indemnity. A policy may cover disease treatment while still limiting or rejecting the non-covered robotic-use portion.

Risk group, PSA, Gleason score, stage, nerve-sparing feasibility, urinary continence risk, erectile function, age, radiation suitability, and patient preference should guide treatment selection.
