Orthodontic treatment cost calculator in Korea

This guide translates the Korean orthodontic cost content. It estimates appliance cost, scope, difficulty, age group, additional procedures, retainers, jaw surgery self-pay, region and clinic index, tax refund, monthly split, and monthly adjustment fee.

Appliance and scope

The Korean source compares metal, ceramic, self-ligating, lingual, clear aligner, and combination treatment. Each appliance type has a minimum, average, and maximum base price. The calculator multiplies this by treatment scope, difficulty, age group, region, and clinic type.

Treatment scope can be partial, single arch, or full orthodontics. A partial case can be much cheaper, but it may not solve bite or skeletal issues. Severe crowding, extraction cases, or adult periodontal risks increase complexity.

Additional procedures

The source adds separate procedure costs when selected: premolar extraction, mini screws, periodontal treatment, CT and cephalometric imaging, IPR, cavity treatment, scaling, retainer, and jaw surgery self-pay. These are not folded into one opaque rate.

Representative average add-ons in the constants include KRW 600,000 for premolar extraction, KRW 150,000 per mini screw, KRW 200,000 for periodontal treatment, KRW 100,000 for CT or cephalometric imaging, KRW 75,000 for IPR, and KRW 75,000 for scaling before region and clinic adjustment.

Tax and monthly planning

Orthodontic treatment can be included in the medical-expense tax-credit estimate. The source uses 3 percent of annual salary as the threshold, a 15 percent refund rate, and a KRW 7,000,000 deduction cap for the eligible medical-expense amount.

Monthly payment is calculated by dividing total cost by the treatment duration in months. Monthly adjustment fee is reported separately from the appliance cost, because adjustment visits can be charged apart from the main package.

Choosing an orthodontic plan

Clear aligners can be convenient but are not always ideal for severe movement. Lingual orthodontics can improve appearance during treatment but costs more and may be less comfortable. Self-ligating systems can reduce some friction and visit burden, but case selection matters more than marketing claims.

Use the calculator for budget comparison, then confirm diagnosis, treatment plan, retention period, extraction need, and refund policy with the clinic.
