Cavity, root canal, scaling, and periodontal dental cost calculator

This guide translates the Korean dental treatment cost page for cavity fillings, root canals, scaling, and periodontal care. It keeps the insured versus non-covered split and the Korean copay, region, clinic, and tax-credit logic.

Cavity treatment

The Korean calculator separates insured materials from non-covered materials. Amalgam and glass ionomer are treated as insured. Adult composite resin, resin inlays, gold inlays, and ceramic inlays are treated as non-covered unless the child resin rule applies.

Composite resin for permanent teeth in children aged 12 or under has an insured path in the source. The model also uses surface count and tooth position multipliers for non-covered cavity treatments, because wider cavities and molars often cost more.

  • Insured child resin full fee uses the source RESIN_UNDER12_FULLFEE constant.
  • Eligible child resin age limit: 12 or under.
  • Surface count can be 1, 2, or 3.
  • Tooth position can be anterior, premolar, or molar.

Root canal and crown add-ons

Root canal treatment itself is a covered benefit in the Korean source. The full fee differs by tooth position. Retreatment multiplies the root canal fee by the retreatment multiplier, and the patient copay is then calculated from the applicable clinic copay rate.

The real cost often rises because post-core and crown restoration are non-covered add-ons. The calculator therefore includes post-core and crown options so users can see the combined burden rather than the root canal fee alone.

Scaling and periodontal treatment

Annual insured scaling is available from age 19 in the source. Under age 19, annual scaling is treated as non-covered unless another covered periodontal indication applies. Additional scaling outside the annual covered path is also usually non-covered.

SRP and periodontal surgery are modeled as covered periodontal treatments by region count. The Korean guide emphasizes treating gum disease early because delaying care can lead to tooth loss and larger prosthetic costs.

Final cost and tax credit

The result separates insured full fee, insured self-pay, NHIS covered amount, non-covered cost, total self-pay, estimated tax refund, and final cost. The tax-credit logic uses 3 percent of salary as the threshold and 15 percent as the refund rate on the eligible excess.

Because the calculation uses Korean copay and non-covered price assumptions, it is a Korea-specific planning estimate. Clinic quotation, material brand, cavity size, and treatment complexity should be confirmed before treatment.
