This page follows the Korean hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis guide for HD sessions per week, CAPD, APD, hospital level, chronic kidney disease special-case registration, disability flag, monthly non-covered cost, copay ceiling, indemnity, and tax credit.

Covered annual dialysis cost

Hemodialysis session covered fees are modeled by hospital level: KRW 180,000 at clinics, KRW 195,000 at hospitals, KRW 210,000 at general hospitals, and KRW 230,000 at tertiary hospitals. Annual hemodialysis uses sessions per week multiplied by 52 weeks.

Peritoneal dialysis is modeled monthly. CAPD uses KRW 1,550,000 per month, and APD uses KRW 1,850,000 per month. The comparison table uses 12 months for the annual covered fee.

Special-case and ceiling

Chronic kidney disease special-case registration uses a 10 percent copay for dialysis. If special-case registration is not selected, outpatient copay follows hospital level: 30 percent, 40 percent, 50 percent, or 60 percent. Medical Aid is modeled as zero copay for outpatient dialysis, and near-poor status uses 14 percent.

The source applies a copay ceiling table from KRW 890,000 in the first income decile to KRW 8,260,000 in the tenth decile. Monthly non-covered items, private indemnity generation, and the 3 percent salary threshold plus 15 percent tax credit remain visible.

How to use it

The result is annualized because dialysis is chronic. Vascular access, EPO or iron treatment, transport, lost work time, diet, infection, hospitalization, and transplant planning may add costs outside a routine session model.
