Korean 1-ton delivery truck TCO for LPG and EV business use

This English guide follows the Korean calculator logic and preserves the Korean won amounts, statutory thresholds, tax rates, fee tables, vehicle categories, and operating assumptions used by the source page.

Truck presets and energy prices

The 1-ton delivery-business calculator compares Korean LPG and EV light trucks with business tax treatment. Porter II LPG is KRW 21,520,000, Bongo III LPG is KRW 20,550,000, Porter II EV is KRW 43,500,000, and Bongo III EV is KRW 43,450,000 in the source presets.

The LPG baseline uses KRW 1,038.78 per liter for automotive butane, and EV charging uses KRW 339.1 per kWh for the public fast-charge member price assumption. Because a delivery truck can travel about 54,000 km per year at the default work pattern, small energy-price differences become large over several ownership years.

  • The default work pattern is 25 days per month and 180 km per day.
  • Default empty-run rate is 18 percent.
  • Tire cost and maintenance are modeled per kilometer, not as one annual flat amount.

Business tax and profitability

The Korean source distinguishes commercial transport plates from general business trucks. Commercial acquisition tax is 4 percent and commercial truck tax is KRW 6,600, while non-commercial business truck acquisition tax is 5 percent and non-commercial truck tax is KRW 28,500. EV acquisition-tax relief cap is KRW 1.4 million.

VAT refund matters because 1-ton trucks used directly for business can be reviewed through purchase VAT and operating VAT recovery. The calculator separates supply value and VAT, then reports initial net cost, annual operating cost, cost per paid kilometer, monthly break-even revenue, accounting profit, and total TCO.

  • LPG residual value is 42 percent at 5 years in the source curve.
  • EV residual value is 34 percent at 5 years.
  • Improving empty-run rate by 3 to 5 percentage points can matter more than a small energy discount.
