Usage pattern and provider rates

The Korean model compares three concrete options: carsharing, owning a car, and long-term rental. The default usage pattern is 8 monthly trips, 4 hours per trip, 30 km per trip, a 3-year comparison period, and a 50 percent weekend or holiday use ratio.

Provider rates are built from Korean carsharing assumptions. For a compact class, Socar defaults to KRW 7,900 per hour, KRW 47,000 for 6 hours, KRW 63,000 for 12 hours, and KRW 79,000 for 24 hours. Green Car and People Car have separate tables, so changing provider and class changes the rental time price.

  • The default own-car price is KRW 25 million, with 12.0 km/L fuel efficiency and KRW 1,693 per liter gasoline.
  • Default annual insurance is KRW 700,000, monthly parking is KRW 100,000, and annual maintenance is KRW 600,000.
  • Default long-term rental is KRW 550,000 per month for 36 months with 20,000 km annual mileage and KRW 120 per excess kilometer.

Break-even interpretation

Carsharing cost is driven by trip count, hours, distance, fuel inclusion, insurance type, and subscription discount. Own-car cost includes purchase price, fuel, tax, insurance, parking, maintenance, installment interest if any, and residual value. Long-term rental cost includes deposit, monthly rent, mileage limit, and separate fuel where selected.

The output reports a winner, total saving against the most expensive option, monthly saving, and break-even points such as the monthly trip count at which owning can beat carsharing. It is a planning estimate for Korean use patterns rather than a resale guarantee.
