Simulates Korean child gift and investment planning with the same 10-year lineal-descendant exemption, adult and minor child thresholds, marriage and birth extra deduction, gift-tax brackets, filing discount, generation-skip surcharge, annual return, and inflation logic. This English calculator calls the same pure tax calculation function used by the Korean page. Inputs and labels are translated; the formula is not replaced by a generic value-times-rate stub.

This English page translates the Korean child gift and investment plan guide and keeps the same gift-tax bracket, exemption, generation-skip, filing discount, investment return, and inflation simulation.

Gift exemptions

The Korean gift-tax model uses the 10-year lineal-descendant exemption period. Gifts to an adult child have a KRW 50 million exemption, while gifts to a minor child have a KRW 20 million exemption.

A separate KRW 100 million marriage and childbirth extra deduction can be added where the statutory condition is met. The calculator keeps this extra deduction separate from the ordinary child exemption.

Gift tax and donors

Gift tax is calculated with the Korean progressive gift-tax brackets from 10 percent to 50 percent, then reduced by the filing discount of 3 percent. Grandparent gifts can trigger a generation-skipping surcharge, modeled at 30 percent in the Korean calculation.

Multiple donors are still tracked under the lineal-descendant exemption structure. That is why the plan is not just gift amount divided by number of donors; the 10-year cumulative rule matters.

Investment and inflation

After tax, the calculator compounds invested gifts until the target age using the selected annual return rate. It also compares nominal final assets with inflation-adjusted real value when inflation is enabled.

Use this page to compare lump-sum gifts, staged gifts, parent-only gifts, grandparent involvement, and marriage or childbirth deduction timing. The tax result should be reviewed before executing large transfers.
