Military discharge date calculator guide

This English page translates the Korean military discharge-date calculator and calls calculateMilitaryDischarge. It preserves branch service duration, addMonthsMinusOneDay discharge calculation, D-Day, progress percentage, rank timeline, 2026 monthly salary table, total salary, and service milestones.

Service duration by branch

The source branch table uses 18 months for Army, Marine Corps, and reserve; 20 months for Navy; and 21 months for Air Force and social-service personnel. The discharge date is calculated by adding the service months to the enlistment date and subtracting one day.

Because the result uses dates, one-day errors matter. A January 2, 2026 Army enlistment is not handled by adding an approximate number of days; it uses calendar-month arithmetic and then subtracts one day.

D-Day, rank, and salary

The D-Day value is discharge date minus today. Positive values are remaining service days, zero means discharge day, and negative values mean days after discharge. Progress is elapsed days divided by total service days and capped between 0% and 100%.

The 2026 monthly salary table in the Korean source uses KRW 750,000 for private, KRW 900,000 for private first class, KRW 1,200,000 for corporal, and KRW 1,500,000 for sergeant. Total salary sums monthly salary by rank-duration schedule.

Milestone interpretation

Milestones include 100 days after enlistment, halfway point, 200 days, 300 days when applicable, D-100, and discharge day. The current-rank timeline also shows promotion start and end dates.

Actual administrative discharge handling can be affected by official orders, leave settlement, service-type changes, disciplinary extensions, or policy changes. Use the calculator as a planning helper and confirm official military documents for legal use.
