What Is the Korea Franchise Fee Refund Calculator?

This calculator estimates refundable franchise fees under Korean franchise-law scenarios such as disclosure-document violation, false or exaggerated information before contract, false information discovered after contract, and unilateral business suspension by the franchisor.

The English calculator calls the Korean franchise refund function. It preserves initial fee, education fee, performance deposit, interior margin, prepaid royalty, contract period, elapsed months, education completion, outstanding debt, base date, issue checklist, refund deadline, and separate damages signal.

Important Note

Franchise refund deadlines are short. A refund demand should be written, dated, evidence-backed, and sent within the statutory demand period where applicable.

Refund Grounds

GroundKorean standard preservedRefund logic
Disclosure violationInformation disclosure document, nearby 10 franchise stores document, and cooling-off period rulesPre-contract ground with full unused-rate assumption
False or exaggerated information before contractFalse sales projection, omitted important facts, or misleading profitability claimPre-contract ground; separate damages may also be flagged
False information after contractContract was signed due to material false information and refund is demanded within 4 monthsPost-contract ground with pro rata unused rate
Business suspensionFranchisor stops or cannot continue franchise businessPost-contract ground; refund demand deadline is calculated from suspension date

Preserved Numeric Rules

  • Refund demand deadline is 4 months for post-contract false information and business suspension grounds.
  • Refund fulfillment period is 1 month in the source constants.
  • Escrow release period is 2 months in the source constants.
  • Cooling-off period logic preserves 14 days after disclosure, or 7 days when advised by an attorney or franchise consultant.
  • Nearby franchise-store disclosure checks preserve the 10-store document concept.

Fee Items

The Korean function separates initial franchise fee, education fee, performance deposit, interior-equipment margin, and prepaid royalty. Deposit refund is net of outstanding debt, and education fee can be reduced when initial training was already delivered.

For post-contract grounds, the model prorates certain fees by unused contract period instead of refunding every paid amount automatically.

FAQ

Does a false sales projection always mean full refund?

No. Timing, proof, causal importance, demand deadline, and elapsed contract period all matter.

Why does education completion matter?

The Korean model treats initial education fee differently if training was already provided and value was consumed.
