Bonus Issue, Stock Split & Reverse Split Calculator

Reconcile allocated shares, fractions, theoretical base prices and adjusted averages, with Korean T+2 purchase and ex-date reminders for 2026.

Korean listed shares · 2026 rules · initial values are a synthetic example

Use this worksheet to reconcile share and price adjustments with the disclosure. Check allocation, fractional settlement, listing and suspensions. Theory precedes tick adjustment and is not a market-price forecast.

0.01–1,000,000; up to 2 decimals

2. Allocation, split or consolidation ratio

Price fields marked unknown may be left blank and are ignored. An unknown fractional payment is not treated as zero. Use the disclosed sale or settlement price, rather than par value. Confirm tax and actual rounding separately.

4. Disclosure, listing and suspension dates

A confirmed status requires a check date. Pre-relisting tradable quantities are withheld for splits and reverse splits. Listing, account credit and account restrictions may differ.

5. KRX calendar for 2026

Weekends, public and substitute holidays, May 1, June 3, July 17 and December 31 are excluded. Only 2026 is supported. Check emergency closures and security-specific suspensions.

A closed record date is anchored to the preceding settlement day. Existing shares and uncredited new shares are separated before listing. The quantity does not establish actual order availability or entitlement.

Next checks and exports

Calendar exports require confirmed terms and a check date. Derived buy and ex-dates also require calendar confirmation; unsupported or suspension-conflicted dates are excluded.

What to check when an ex-rights adjustment lowers the price

A large drop in the displayed share price after a bonus issue can look like a loss of invested capital.
First reconcile the change in share count, the entitlement to new shares and their account-credit date.
This calculator puts bonus issues, stock dividends, stock splits and reverse splits into a worksheet for checking a disclosure against your holdings.

An adjusted base price and a market execution price serve different purposes.
The base resets the price reference for the corporate action; supply and demand still determine actual trades.
An increase in share count alone does not establish an investment gain.
Compare the price change together with the shares you are entitled to receive.

Korean listed shares, 2026 rules

All money amounts are in KRW, before tax and trading fees.
Initial values are a synthetic example.
Use the latest amended company disclosure and your Korean broker’s corporate-action notice as input sources.
These settlement dates are not a calendar for foreign stock markets.

How the four corporate actions differ

Bonus issue

Existing shares remain and additional shares are allocated at the disclosed rate.
Enter new shares per existing share: 0.15 means 0.15 additional shares for each old share.
The result separates whole-share credits from fractional entitlements.

Stock dividend

A distribution of profits is made in newly issued shares.
The quantity model uses additional shares, but this does not make its legal basis or taxation identical to a bonus issue.
Check the disclosed dividend record date and final stock-dividend ratio.

Stock split

Each old share is replaced by several new shares.
Old units 1 and new units 5 multiply the share count by five and divide the theoretical price by five.
Read the result as the replacement total; do not add another five times the holdings to the old shares.

Reverse split

Several old shares are replaced by fewer new shares.
A 10→1 consolidation divides quantity by ten and multiplies the theoretical price by ten.
Capital reductions, including paid and unpaid reductions, require separate review and are excluded from this ordinary consolidation model.

Transfer the right inputs from the disclosure

  • Eligible existing shares: use the quantity entitled at the specified record date, rather than assuming that today’s visible balance qualifies.
For multiple accounts, first check whether fractional entitlements are settled separately, then calculate each account where appropriate.
  • Existing average cost: use the pre-action purchase average.
Keep treatment of acquisition fees and other costs consistent when comparing profit figures.
  • Cum-rights or pre-action final close: entering an already adjusted price applies the adjustment twice.
For a bonus issue, use the close before the ex-date; for a split or consolidation, use the final pre-change trading close.
  • Personal allocation versus price ratio: treasury-share exclusions can make personal allocation differ from new shares divided by pre-issue total shares.
    The default assumes equality.
Use the separate price ratio when the disclosed figures differ.
  • Fraction price: do not automatically use par value or your acquisition price.
Follow the disclosed sale or settlement method, such as the first listing-day close.
Keep the status unknown while the relevant price remains undetermined.
  • Disclosed base and scenario price: the exchange-announced base is a comparison with theory; the valuation price is your own post-listing scenario.
They do not need to be the same number.

Share allocation and theoretical ex-rights formulas

Let H be existing holdings, C the old average cost, P the previous close, a the personal allocation rate and d the price-adjustment share ratio.
For a bonus issue or stock dividend, additional whole shares = floor(H × a), and the fraction = H × a − floor(H × a).
Final whole shares = H + floor(H × a), while theoretical base price = P ÷ (1 + d).

For a split or consolidation, let o be old units and n be replacement units.
Final whole shares = floor(H × n ÷ o), and theoretical price = P × o ÷ n.
Decimal-integer and rational quotient/remainder calculations prevent 100 × 0.29 from being rounded down to 28 shares by floating-point error.

Share multipliers and unrounded theoretical base-price formulas
Corporate actionShare multiplierTheoretical base
Bonus issue / stock dividend1 + aP ÷ (1 + d)
Split / reverse splitn ÷ oP × o ÷ n

Theory is an unadjusted mathematical reference.
An actual exchange announcement may apply tick-size handling or a security-specific measure.
Entering the disclosed base shows the difference from theory; that difference is not automatically an error or a trading profit.

Last eligible purchase and ex-date: T+2 and closures

Ordinary Korean share transactions settle on T+2, two trading and settlement days after the trade date.
A purchase must settle by the relevant record date for ordinary record-date entitlement.
The calculator finds the last settlement day on or before the record date, then moves back two trading days for the last eligible buy date.
The indicative ex-rights or ex-dividend date is the trading day after that purchase cutoff.

An ordinary week

A Friday record date of 2026-10-23 gives a last buy date of 2026-10-21 and an ex-date of 2026-10-22.
A Sunday record date of 2026-10-25 gives the same result because the preceding Friday is the last settlement day.
This differs from blindly subtracting two weekdays from a closed record date.

A holiday period

For a record date of 2026-05-06, the May 1 closure, weekend and Children’s Day produce a last buy date of 2026-04-30 and an ex-date of 2026-05-04.
A 2026-03-03 record date gives 2026-02-26 and 2026-02-27 respectively.

The 2026 calendar excludes weekends, public and substitute holidays, Labor Day, the local election day, July 17 and the December 31 year-end closure.
Add any emergency closure dates explicitly.
Automatic dates are withheld when the calculation leaves the supported year.
Unconfirmed terms or calendar checks leave dates tentative; only confirmed reminders are exported.

Splits and reverse splits involve suspension and relisting procedures, so this tool does not assign the ordinary bonus-issue ex-date to them.
For a bonus issue, a disclosed halt overlapping the purchase-cutoff-to-record-date window also withholds ordinary T+2 dates.
Confirm the final tradable date, execution and settlement with the broker before acting.

Worked bonus example: 333 shares and a 15% allocation

Assume 333 shares, average cost KRW 20,000, previous close KRW 23,000 and equal personal / price ratios of 0.15.
The new-share entitlement is 49.95: 49 additional whole shares and a 0.95 fraction.
Final credited whole shares are 382, and theoretical base = 23,000 ÷ 1.15 = KRW 20,000.

If the fraction price is unknown, the calculator does not establish a KRW 17,100 payment.
It still shows the whole-share value but withholds the cash-inclusive total and profit.
Assumed and confirmed fraction prices have separate labels.
The approximately 20.7072% return in this example comes from the assumed valuation price and fractional payment, not from the bonus issue itself.

Split and reverse-split examples, and the two averages

One share becomes five

A holding of 100 shares at a KRW 50,000 close and KRW 40,000 average cost becomes 500 shares after a 1→5 split.
The theoretical price is KRW 10,000 and mechanical average cost is KRW 8,000.
The split alone does not increase the preceding KRW 5,000,000 valuation.

Ten shares become one

Consolidating 103 shares at 10→1 leaves 10 whole shares and a 0.3 fraction.
A KRW 1,200 close becomes a theoretical KRW 12,000 price.
Assuming the same KRW 12,000 fraction-settlement price gives KRW 3,600 cash.
A three-share holding would instead leave only a fraction, with no whole share.

The fraction-inclusive average divides the old average by the share-count multiplier.
The whole-share average allocates all original purchase cost to the whole shares actually credited.
The latter does not allocate a separate cost basis to fractional entitlements, so it must not be copied directly into a broker ledger or tax return.
It is withheld when no whole shares remain.

Tradable shares before listing and how to read profit

A right to receive bonus or dividend shares and a credited tradable balance can arise at different times.
For a supported valuation date after the record date but before listing, confirmed open trading gives the existing share count as an indicative tradable quantity.
From listing onward, it gives the final whole-share count.
A confirmed halt, a disclosed halt interval or a market-closed valuation day gives zero.
Unknown trading status or required dates withhold the quantity.

Collateral, stock lending, settlement, lockups and broker account-credit processing can also restrict actual orders.
The displayed quantity does not establish permission to sell uncredited shares or open a short position.
For splits and reverse splits, pre-relisting tradability is withheld rather than assumed equivalent to ordinary existing-share trading.

Scenario total = final whole shares × assumed valuation price + known fraction cash.
Profit subtracts the original purchase cost; a zero cost leaves the return percentage undefined.
Different personal and price ratios, actual fraction prices and taxes can change the result from a simple value-preservation example.

From disclosure review to account reconciliation

  1. Identify the action and eligible share class in the latest amended disclosure.
Separate paid and bonus stages when their record dates differ.
  2. Transfer eligible holdings, old average, pre-action close and ratios.
Check the old-to-new direction for splits and consolidations.
  3. Keep unknown, assumed and confirmed fraction prices and disclosed bases distinct.
Record the evidence check date when selecting a confirmed status.
  4. Reconcile the record date, listing date, halt period and any additional closures.
Read why a date is adjusted or withheld and prepare questions for your broker.
  5. Save the TXT worksheet or print it to compare actual whole-share credits and fraction cash.
Confirmed dates can be saved as anonymous all-day ICS reminders without your account quantity in their titles.

For a planned sale to fund living expenses, separate dates before and after listing rather than relying on the total future share count.
For a small holding facing consolidation, pay particular attention to receiving only a fraction and to the actual cash-payment date.
Reconcile family members’ accounts independently where settlement is performed per account.

Scope and input cautions

The model covers one ordinary bonus issue, stock dividend, stock split or reverse split.
Do not collapse a combined paid-and-bonus disclosure with different record dates into a single summed ratio.
Capital reductions, rehabilitation plans, share-class changes, differential allocations, mergers, company divisions and foreign settlement cycles are excluded.

A statutory basis for fractional settlement does not establish one universal payment price or date.
Actual disclosures and account statements govern rounding below KRW 1, tax, payment timing and settlement amounts.
The calculator does not automatically compute deemed-dividend taxation arising from the bonus issue’s reserve source or tax on stock dividends.

Numeric fields accept commas and the stated decimal precision.
Negative or out-of-range amounts, impossible dates and ratios in the wrong direction are rejected.
Changing inputs hides the old result until you calculate again.
Marking a value confirmed does not replace reviewing the actual disclosure.

Frequently asked questions

Does a 100% bonus issue double my investment value?

An additional ratio of 1 means one new share for every old share.
With an equal price ratio, quantity doubles and theoretical price halves, preserving the simple valuation.
Actual price changes, tax and fractional settlement must be considered separately.

Do I receive the new shares if I buy on the ex-date?

Ordinarily, an ex-date purchase does not carry that entitlement.
The calculator provides T+2 reference dates from the disclosed record date.
Confirm execution, suspensions, settlement and actual account rights with your broker.

Why can a record date fall on a Sunday?

A shareholder record date does not have to be a trading day.
The calculator finds the last preceding settlement day and the latest purchase that settles by then.
It does not change the disclosed record date itself.

Are the personal allocation and price ratios always equal?

Treasury-share exclusions or other disclosed conditions can make them differ.
Personal allocation determines your quantity; the total-share ratio determines price adjustment.
Reconcile the default equal-ratio assumption with the exchange-announced base.

Is a 0.95 fraction rounded up to a whole share?

The model separates whole shares and fractions without rounding fractions up.
Follow the disclosed sale or cash-settlement method.
An unknown fraction price withholds fractional cash and cash-inclusive profit.

Is an unpaid capital reduction the same as a reverse split?

Both may reduce share count, but capital reduction and specific listing measures can differ.
This screen excludes capital reductions.
Do not use an ordinary consolidation to establish the base price or asset value of a reduction disclosure.

Why might the average differ from my broker’s record?

The screen separates a fraction-inclusive mechanical average from full original cost divided by whole shares.
Real ledgers may allocate fractional cost and include taxes, acquisition costs and broker-specific processing.
These averages do not replace the actual acquisition basis.

Why is calendar export disabled?

Confirmed terms, a check date and at least one eligible date are required.
Derived purchase and ex-dates also require calendar confirmation.
Splits export the confirmed listing date only; unsupported or suspension-conflicted automatic dates are excluded.
