Korea platform worker income and insurance calculator guide

This English page translates the Korean platform-worker income and insurance calculator and calls calculateAll plus calculateUnemploymentBenefit. It preserves 3.3% withholding, expense methods, industrial accident insurance, employment insurance, National Pension, Health Insurance, annual tax, and unemployment-benefit logic.

Income and 3.3% withholding

Platform and special-type worker income is often paid as business income with 3.3% withholding, made up of 3% income tax and 0.3% local income tax. The Korean function calculates monthly withholding and monthly income after withholding before moving to annual tax settlement.

The annual tax model does not treat withholding as final tax. It calculates annual gross income, necessary expenses, income amount, deductions, taxable income, calculated tax, credits, determined tax, local income tax, prepaid tax, and additional payment or refund.

Expense method and worker type

The Korean source keeps worker-type data such as delivery rider, designated driver, quick-service courier, insurance agent, study teacher, freight driver, golf caddy, and other special workers. Worker type affects industrial accident premium assumptions and expense-rate defaults.

The English calculator exposes the simple expense-rate path and keeps the input for custom expense rate. This is materially different from a two-line gross-times-rate stub because expenses change taxable income and therefore annual disposable income.

Insurance burden

Industrial accident insurance is calculated with worker and employer portions. Employment insurance applies only when the modeled income and enrollment conditions are met. National Pension uses the Korean source base-income limits, while regional Health Insurance adds long-term care.

The result separates worker-side monthly burden, annual burden, monthly disposable income, effective burden rate, and the comparison with regular-worker insurance. This is why the English page must call the Korean feature library rather than approximate with one burden percentage.

Unemployment benefit scenario

The unemployment-benefit branch uses monthly income, insured period, age group, separation reason, and eligible-reason flag. It calculates daily benefit, duration days, total benefit, and monthly equivalent.

Eligibility still depends on employment-center review, insured-period records, actual contract type, and separation reason. The calculator preserves the Korean model for planning, but official review and platform settlement records remain necessary.
