This path now uses the comprehensive-income utility lib instead of a generic P4 fallback. The model compares comprehensive and separate taxation where the lib supports it. This English calculator calls the Korean page feature lib directly. The UI is translated, but the numbers come from the same pure calculation path instead of a generic value-times-rate stub.

Income tax calculator

This English hub translates the Korean income-tax overview for salary, business, capital gains, interest, dividend, pension, and comprehensive income. The calculator now calls the comprehensive income utility lib instead of a shallow generic stub.

Income classes are not interchangeable

Korean income tax treats salary, business income, transfer income, interest, dividends, pensions, and other income differently. Each category can have a separate deduction, withholding rule, or separate-tax option.

The hub calculator therefore lets users enter several income classes in one scenario and compares comprehensive taxation with separate taxation where the utility lib supports it.

Progressive brackets and local tax

The comprehensive-income utility uses Korean progressive income tax brackets and adds local income tax. Local income tax is generally 10 percent of the calculated national income tax, so it must be shown separately from the headline bracket.

The result includes taxable income, income tax, local income tax, total tax, total tax rate, net income, and the optimal method. These are the numbers users need before deciding whether to separate financial, capital-gains, or pension income.

When to use a sub-calculator

Use the salary sub-page for payroll and four-insurance detail, the business page for revenue-expense deduction detail, the capital-gains page for transfer income, the interest-dividend page for withholding, and the pension page for retirement receipt comparisons.

The hub is best for a first pass across the whole income picture. A final Korean filing position still needs actual certificates, withholding receipts, deductible payment evidence, and current National Tax Service guidance.
